Does anyone know if there is an explanation for the explosion heard in this short clip?
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/448833/explosions_at_ground_zero_after_twin_towers_collap se_near_wtc_7/
I know it's not a controlled demolition... but someone is trying to use it as proof there was. Just wondering if there was an explanation found.

Could be a number of things. It could be an electrical terminal blowing up, the diesel fuel, or it could be like in one towers clip a truther proided, the audio could have been planted in there.

Ah yes, there's a recent thread about it here:
http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=96740
Also, IIRC, Gumboot wrote a good piece about it.
Also if it were CD charges why no sounds of collapse after the explosion?

That's a different video. This one is real, as far as I can tell.

I don't understand why one explosion in a video only fourteen seconds long is proof of anything.

Watch the portion of SLC with the electrical termianal blowing up, which several of them were in the towers and WTC 7. They don't cause that much damage, but damn they can be really loud.

Exactly. First of all, there are two energetic concussions that may or may not be the result of pyrotechnic devices, if they are real at all. How about two bodies falling into a metal awning? That is a very unpleasant, but plausible scenario.

"Watch as these firefighters react to the explosions as they call families to let them know they survived the collapses of the Twin Towers. Shortly after this video was s... More»hot, WTC 7 collapsed & has yet to be explained to this day."
That's the uploaders input. The firefighters just called their families to let them know they survived the towers collapses RIGHT BEFORE 7 went down? Thats how many hours later? I know I would have tried to get to a phone and let my loved ones know i'm OK for now, and then go and do anythign to help out the people.

Yes, the explanation is that the troofer video version of that clip has been edited to add the sound.
It's been discussed here before. Try a search using google site:randi.org at the end.

Not in that thread, and I haven't been able to find any that do by searching the forums.

I searched and wasn't able to find any discussion of it. There are threads about videos of the Twin Tower collapses that had obviously been overdubbed by ironically named "Truthers", but I can't find any threads relating to this particular video.
ETA: here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=67149)'s a thread about it. No one there seems to doubt the video's authenticity.

It doesn't. The sound is fake. It has been added. The fireman in question says "I know that, but you gotta get back, the city's exploded."
The people present talk over the explosion, as if it had never happened. In addition, the explosion is heard most clearly in the low frequency range and upper range. The volume levels for the explosion are well below all other sound in the area - the voices of the people peak frequently and yet the only peaking on the explosion is below 60 Hz.
The lower end could be explained by a distant explosion, however the high-volume upper end indicates close proximity to the explosion. Consumer handycams have very poor performance at the lower end of the audio range, and professional cameras are equipped with shotgun microphones designed specifically to pick up human voices.
There is no echo on the explosion - and yet it supposedly occured in a crowded city - which produces multiple echos.

It sounded to me like a fuel tank on a vehicle cooking off, out in the open. It would be more muffled than a demolition charge, and a lot less powerful, being uncontained. I think it did echo just a bit. If it blew up in an alley, i should think that that would sort of baffle it against echoing a great deal.
I'm pretty sure it is genuine. The cops seemed to react at the right times. Their faces say "Wow! That was bleeping close. But I gotta finish this call."
The reaction of the fire fighters seemed to suggest that they were reacting to a threat close by.
It sort of sounded to me as though the fire fighter said, "stuff is exploding." Like the cars parked nearby?

Also, what is the original source for this vid? CNN, ABC, FOX, what? If it's something like Pirsonplanet or something i'm gonna just drop this subject all together.
Odds are it's going to be something like the towers collapse sound faking that was linked by redtail, and the twoofers have to manufacture their own evidence once again.

Take them back to the basics: loud concussive noises !=> explosives (http://arkanwolfshade.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!9E151F6EB6C7A35D!347.entry)
