The very fact that she released this book and stands on a stage preaching her views to a bunch of people in public sort of disproves any theory of clamping down on free-speech, thats for sure.

I bet she charged for that too :laughingdog:

How many twoofers have been thrown in jail because of their views, scooby?

Is the tally above zero yet?

Oh I'm optimistic - thats a glass half empty question.

I like to look at it this way, how many co-conspirators and govt propagandists have been thrown in jail yet CHF?

Is the tally above zero yet?

Propaganda is illegal? You can get thrown in jail for it? Really?
Want to cite me some relevent legal precedents there, scooby?

I despise the Idiot in Chief, but Wolf's whole thesis is really overblown.

You’ve committed the both the begging the question and red herring fallacies there.

Firstly, whether or not the kinds of conspirators and propagandists you posit actually exist is precisely the question at issue. Secondly, you sought to shift focus away from CHF’s very salient question by, on the one hand, not answering it and, on the other, posing an unconnected question of your own.

So... America survived the Sedition Act, and the internment of the Japanese, and a freaking CIVIL WAR, but now THIS is the end of America?

Please.

Don't forget the House Committee on Un-American Activities and McCarthyism.

Throwing propagandists in jail sure is an interesting way of protecting free speech.

From what I've read so far I think its fair to say that most posters here would agree that a fascist takeover of the US based on the German model will not succeed. Enjoy Halloween. :)

So you and your troofer friends are going to call it off, then?

Do we have one big master thread on binary thinking? That's most of the problem with this silly alarmist stuff. There's no degrees in their mind. Either America is absolutely flawless and free, or else it's a fascist nightmare.

That the reality could be somewhere in between just doesn't register with these people. Same thing with my conservative friends who used to call Bill Clinton a communist, or my atheist friends who say, because he's a fundamentalist Christian, Bush's government is no different from the Iranian theocracy.

Why can't people think in degrees? How are they able to make any decisions in their life without that ability to choose between two alternatives that are both good in some ways and bad in others?

What, you mean the model where a few charismatic blow-hards exploit the feelings of powerlessness of a small-but-zealous group of undereducated malcontents to build a power base, get their weirdo candidate into office and then go about convincing the country that the entire problem is THE ENEMY
WITHIN?

The one that sounds exactly like the Truth movement?

You're right, I don't think a fascist takeover like that would succeed in the US. Probably.
