are there any that can handle auth SMTP? i tried Postfix/Mutt with no luck; exim used auth and size headers that my mail server choked on; Sendmail/Mutt said no forwarding allowed.

so i need an SMTP equivalent to fetchmail.

the easiest route might be a new internet provider that allows relaying. Ability Mail Server, Bellsouth, and Windows XP worked well!

mutt does do auth smtp

Or rather, mutt can use a sendmail program that does auth smtp, like msmtp.
