Via Yahoo! Finance, I came across this investment guru, Phil Town. I plan to research him these following days. Basically, he sells a book with one simple rule for successful investing (and my feeling is he is all the time giving addendums to the rule, so that it seems to work). There is some common sense in his advice- to choose a company that has a great business.

Meanwhile, anyone with experience of Rule #1 investing? Anything different from the rosy comments on Phil's site and blog?

(Alright, I am skeptical of investment books with a garish two-color scheme.)

Buy low. Sell high.

Next.Even more basic:

Make profit = good
Lose money = bad

Yes, basically.

The testimonies are not manically happy as with other investment gurus, seems to me.

I'm skeptical of investment books in general. I always wonder if he's so smart at investing, why is he hawking his book? Are there not more lucrative things he could do with his time/money?
