I'm not sure if this has been done before, but so many of the "evolution is refuted by science" videos on youtube just... make my brain hurt so bad.
They obscufuct the facts so much when it's really so much more logical than they'll ever emit to. I am not sure if this has been done before, but I'm working on a video to try to use the take of "you would expect evolution to happen..."
I'm actually starting off by using examples of unnatural selection, which is of course well documented. Nobody will claim that it doesn't exist because it's so obviously something we do. IT was also part of what Darwin and other initially knew about that helped formulate the theory, by knowing of how evolution happends by artificial selection. Darwin simply had a "eureka" moment when he realized how nature can do something similar.
My points are pretty much that eventhough we don't create stuff as different as a cucumber and a humpback whale in human chronology, the fact that we can diverge a single species into a Great Dane and a Chiuhauha, by simply favoring certain traits is pretty damn impressive.
And if you figure that rate of change is possible and go for millions of years... then it would not be that far fetched.
The next step is simple. Imagine a group of... for example... domestic dogs which are forced to live in the wild as feral dogs. The species has lost much of it's survival ability, but it still can get by. But many would not. Most would not be successful. Which would? The ones who were pretty decent at survival. And such with offspring... and before long they regain their wild abilities.
Substitute another species and another change in the environment. You almost can't imagine how it *would not* happen. It wuld have to happen... THe more you think the more it seems like an inevitability....
Anyone know if this road is fruitful? It requires thinking.
And here's the rough cut of the video I am working on. Will soon substitute some of the photos for full motion video and also, this is only one third of the video. The introduction is not done nore is the final part..
here's a chunk out of the middle for coments which are welcome.
