Financial looniness isn't usually my cup of tea- about all I know about money is how to balance my checkbook and pay my bills on time- but in the course of Googling for more about a particularly amusing crank who turned up on the L.A. Indymedia site I stumbled across this gem, and decided that it might make a nice break from our usual "all 9/11 all the time" format...

And you've gone and beat me to it. :mad:

Darn, darn, DARN, DARN, DARN! :bricks:

*Whew* Just converted all my assets to gold coins. Thankfully no one at the bank nor my stockbroker was aware of this yet so I got a great rate.

Wait, it didn't really happen?

LOL Well if you go to my blog I have been covering Wanta for quite a while. I am now the center for all things Wanta. :D The guy reporting the story even threatened to sue me. One of Wanta's sons e-mailed me. A woman e-mailed me last week that someone got bilked out of a serious amount of cash as a result of this scam, but I haven't been able to find out anything more about that.

I think the only way he could beat this is by declaring progressively larger groups of people have been arrested: a small city, a large city, an entire county, an entire state, an entire country, the entire world, etc...

He's already on the right path.

JamesB

How in the hell did the senior officer responsible for the military police get the authority to arrest civilians and take over private corporations?

You'd think after thirty years in military policing, Brigadier General Rodney L. Johnson would be better versed on the limits of his powers.

There were the arrests of monks in Burma, lawyers in Pakistan, but I didn't know that we were going to arrest all the bankers in the US! My husband, a Marine, just walked by and I asked him if they were on their way to arrest the bankers, and he just laughed and said "huh Marines, what DON'T we do?"

I wish this were true, as I currently have a small negative balance in my checking account. :blush:

BTW, some day I will publish what two sexworker friends told me about Bohemian Grove... Let's just say for now that they were good employers for my friends - More than that will have to wait for my friends to no longer be "in the life."

Is there any crime a former US President could be accused of that wouldn't get him a pardon from the sitting President?

If he's of the same party, he gets pardoned for being a mentor to the current Prez. If he's of the opposite party, he gets pardoned so the sitting Prez doesn't look like a partisan jerk.

And the pardons come way, way before all the facts are in so that everyone can still plausibly claim innocence.

• President George W. Bush Jr.
• Henry M. Paulson Jr., US Treasury Secretary
• Vice President Richard B. Cheney

OTHERS FIGURES LIKELY TO BE ARRESTED AS WELL
We would be very surprised if the following operatives are not also arrested as the wave of now unavoidable arrests reaches the highest levels of the US structures:

• Hillary Rodinski Clinton;
• Mrs Laura Bush
• Michael Chertoff, Homeland Security Secretary;
• Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg;

Yes but which court would have the authority to write a warrant to arrest a sitting President for these "crimes"? (Huntsman has the answer I believe, which is NONE unless a full impeachment is made)

That is what I'm getting at. There isn't the authority. Checks and balances and all. The Legislature has to give the go ahead for the judicial to go after the executive.

Another interesting U.S. Constitutional law question... Can the SCOTUS authorize an arrest warrant? Or are they strictly for hearing cases as a last means of appeal, issuing subpoenas and the like, and only lower courts can issue arrest warrants? Could they issue an arrest warrant for those who do not show up when subpoenaed?

You have to be careful what you ask for. I told Zemin that I wanted a Chinese army escort. Just imagine my surprise when I arrived at the airport and found the entire Chinese Army there. Took a long time to get that straightened out.

Not true. Anybody can be arrested. What you're probably thinking of is the qualified immunity that all public servants have. If the Prez (or any town dog catcher) performs an act within the orbit of his duties, he cannot be held liable for it. That lets most Presidents out of most everything because their job desciption is, really, very vague.

First of all, arrest warrants are only necessary to enter private property to make an arrest. Otherwise, all a cop needs is probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.

Second, any cop could arrest anybody provided that: 1) the crime occurred in his jurisdiction; and 2) the person is present in the jurisdiction when arrested.

The only question is what crime the President is being charged with.

That is what I'm getting at. There isn't the authority. Checks and balances and all. The Legislature has to give the go ahead for the judicial to go after the executive.

Absolutely false. And what you just said is the opposite of checks and balances. Of the executive branch needed the judiciary's ok who needed congress' authority, congress would be the ultimate power. That's not how it works.

Another interesting U.S. Constitutional law question... Can the SCOTUS authorize an arrest warrant?

No. They are not a court of first instance.*

Geez, again? Why did they let them go in the first place? :rolleyes:

You beat me to it. Wasn't Paulson arrested a couple of months ago in France, or Germany, or The Netherlands? I seem to recall the same guy reporting that "fact"

When someone lies constantly, it is difficult to keep their story straight.

Well, either that or a sooper sekrit elite crew of stealth ninjas orchestrated a fool-proof plan which was flawlessly executed to repatriate Monsieurs Paulson and Greenspan from their miserable cells, only to allow them to be re-arrested now. Or something. :boggled:

U.S. TREASURY SECRETARY PAULSON SHOT IN THE CHEST AT CLOSE RANGE
On or around Friday 28th December 2007, Henry M. Paulson Jr., Secretary of the US Treasury, was shot at close range in the chest. He was reported to be in a critical condition on New Year’s Eve, and was thought unlikely to make it overnight. At about 7.00pm UK time on 1st January 2008, Henry Paulson was still alive, with the bullet lodged in his chest. Sources stated that he was too weak to be operated upon, which implied that he was thought unlikely to survive.

The US Treasury Department’s Public Engagements Schedule, published on the official Treasury website by the Press Department, stated:

‘No events Currently Scheduled from December 22 – January 4’.

ACTUAL NUMBER OF U.S. HIT LIST TARGETS IS KNOWN
A list of 127 senior people in the United States alone who have been targeted for assassination, is reported by reliable sources to exist.

Maybe it is about time somebody let the Secret Service know about this guy?

Just when you thought you had seen it all. Only a twisted mind could come up with something like this.

I think the only way he could beat this is by declaring progressively larger groups of people have been arrested: a small city, a large city, an entire county, an entire state, an entire country, the entire world, etc...

He's already on the right path.

Oh, but arresting the entire world is trivial. Just build an inverted prison and declare the world locked up in hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy fashion.

This guy has gone from being amusing with his looniness to being scary.
