Dylan's going to be there? I'm waiting for him to send out an e-mail asking for money to pay for his plane ticket...
ETA: They're asking $6 per head, when the regular price is $2 for matinees and $3 for evening. My guess is they'll get less than 20 attendees.

Gravy,
If you have a ready made pamphlet I could stand outside and hand it out. I checked with the city and as long as I don't block the sidewalk or entrance it is legal. If Totovader is available he can tape it, or vice-versa. PM me if you have other ideas.

I get the feeling that the crowd is gonna look pretty lost in a 700+ seat theater.
The local Toronto twoofers staged a screening of "Shadow play" in a similar venue and drew 70 people.

The local Toronto twoofers staged a screening of "Shadow play" in a similar venue and drew 70 people. That's about what they drew (a little less) for "Press for Truth" in the same theatre, and that was a free screening. If they had a showing at Uptown or the Lagoon, it would draw more, because more of their target audience lives in the Uptown area.
It's a nice theatre. My Grandmother lived a few block away.

The other MarkI think ignoring it is the best policy. These guys desperately need to drum up attention, so why give them more vanity video material? I assume the matinee audience will be mostly truthers, so probably will not be terribly receptive to pamphleting. I almost never watch truther videos, and I'll only watch this one if someone says there's something new in it that needs to be addressed.
That said, it would be funny to go as a really intense and obnoxious fan who shouts things like "Wolfotwitz killed my nieces!" and "Hell, yeah! Now that's what I call animation!" and "What happened to Cleveland? Where the hell did Cleveland go?" and who unsuccessfully tries to lead the audience in a chant of "6.5 seconds! 6.5 seconds!"

Here is a series of questions that need to be directed at LC supporters:
Why was there a need for another edition of Loose Change?
If the answer is "Because it needed to be better presented!", the next question should be asked.
Well then why has the content been changed?

It would really be something to go in as an extremely loud and stupid theorist.
"Google Judy Wood!"

You may be right, here- although the last time we went to one of their events here they were definitely unprepared.
We're a fairly liberal town- I think the majority of these folks are just looking for a good Bush-bashing, and I think a lot of those turn to conspiracism just out of laziness.

This new film draws from research and evidence gathered since the release of earlier Loose Change versions and will be substantially different in content and presentation. Loose Change Final Cut includes never-before-seen interviews with numerous witnesses to the September 11 attacks. The evidence collated for the film has been fact-checked for accuracy by Dr. David Ray Griffin, author of several books on 9/11.
A producer of Loose Change Final Cut, Jason Bermas, will speak to the audience after the movie screening.
The usual schtick- but it still made cereal come out my nose.

We pirate a copy of LCFC (let him try to sue with all of his pirated material in there) and we stage a midnight show in which we have people dress up as parodies of twoofers and adlib a floor show. And of course we will not tell the real twoofers what's up and so they show up expecting a serious showing of the film...

It depends on the theater. It will cost a lot less for "Grindhouse" type dump then a modern multiplex.
The City also matters. You can rent a theater for an afternoon in a Multiplex in Sacramento for 500 bucks .

You should drop by my place (http://youtube.com/watch?v=vbSRQUuLE2c) and allow me to introduce you to films from Japan, India, and Italy. I'll lay 100-to-1 odds that you'll come away realizing that the best AND worst movies ever made, in almost every genre, come from those 3 countries.

Quite an interesting event- at first I wasn't sure if our presence there was worth the price of copies and poster board, but I think overall it was a good thing.
A couple of highlights:
1) Almost everyone was respectful, although some of the hardcore ones were a bit rude. In the end, I only got called a shill maybe twice, and one older guy called me a dirty name as he walked away. He hurt my feelings. Almost everyone took a handout, and were polite though they were aware of the fact that we were opposition. I did get some handouts given back to me, which seemed a bit silly- but the people waiting with their hands out to get the information more than made up for it.
2) By far- the most popular counter was "What about Building 7?" to which "What about it?" seemed to cause people to struggle. Most of the individuals were not aware of the structural damage and massive fires. They scoffed at the idea that it was even possible since "it wasn't hit by a plane". I was stunned that this line of thinking was so popular.
3) Bermas was going on about something I couldn't quite understand. Apparently he claims to have someone saying that there was "an explosion" in Building 7 before the tower collapse (I think I heard him say) but after the Command Center had been cleaned out. He tried to show it to me on his cellphone, but at the time I had 4 or 5 people doing the "well, what about THIS" magic trick and couldn't quite get what Bermas was saying. Beyond that he was laughing at the notion that the buildings did not fall at free-fall speed and a couple of miscellaneous other claims ("pull it") that I naively expected him to back down from.
3) I got some kind of veiled threat from the guy who I thought owned the theater but actually owns a different theater. I didn't understand what he was talking about- and he kept trying to whisper so I didn't get it. Beyond that the actual theater owner demanded that we leave at once. When I told him that was not an option he tried to tell me that I cannot continue to pass out the fliers. I was baffled- and a bit excited- by the suggestion and politely reminded him that there is this thing known as the First Amendment. He gave me a look like I wasn't supposed to know what that was- but he replied that I should have to come in and clean them up off the floor. I refused to do this and he rushed off screaming that he was going to confiscate them at the door. I yelled back that I was not sure that would be a good idea as it wouldn't help his case, but he could certainly refuse entry to anyone with the dreaded blue handout if he liked. I couldn't see what was going on inside, but I hope that he did.
4) I'd say of that 430 maybe about half were fence-sitters, maybe a small handful were full-out nutty. Maybe 5 or 10 actually said that the conspiracy theories are crazy... I wasn't sure why they were there, but maybe they thought it was Harry Potter.
5) It really was the same repeated claims from the crowd- besides what Bermas was trying to shove in my face, it was all very old claims. Hopefully the links we provided will clear up some of that.
6) I was offered twice to have my ticket paid for- once by a nice lady who seemed to be on the fence, although she took my polite refusal as a sign that I don't "accept the facts" and gave me back the handout admitting she already made up her mind. That kinda bummed me out- but oh well. The other was from one of the organizers, after the line had died out. He offered to pay my ticket so I could sit through the Q&A... sensing a trap, I again respectfully declined. A majority of the crowd seemed reasonable, but I doubt they would truly be interested in anything I had to say as a defense against the entire movie.
7) One guy went on about a $1,000 challenge that the Veterans for Truth has that he claimed would be rewarded if any proof of a plane at the Pentagon could be provided. When I pointed out that the links on the paper I just handed to him- especially the Moussaui trial evidence- would easily satisfy that challenge, he just kept repeating that I should collect the money.
8) Overall, more popular than I expected, but not nearly as nutty as I was thinking.

Oh- and on the Bermas thing, when I tried to get him to clarify what he was talking about (he was making it sound like it was a whistleblower) I asked him if the individual was claiming that EXPLOSIVES were used, he did not answer. He went on to skirt around the issue when I tried to clarify. I'm pretty sure he said it's in LC:FC so I will have to look out for it.
Also- a bit odd, but when he was showing me his cellphone he asked "what is this?" I said "a cellphone", he said "no, it's not a cellphone". I wish I had it on camera because it was kind of funny... to me at least.

Final ticket sales, according to the theatre, 430 out of 700 seats.
Not bad by twoofer standards, but bloody awful for a US premier.

Good for you! I'll bet Bermas was talking about Barry Jennings, who did not allow his interview to be used in LCFC. His story as he told it to NIST exactly confirms the official version.

That sounds about right- I wonder if it will actually show up in LC:FC... either Bermas was lying, or they did a big no-no.

When the guys with the camera were interviewing me, this guy suddenly stood between us, demanding to be interviewed. He had been listening to what I was saying about the Payne Stewart intercept and wanted to say that thousands of itercepts were done every year over Washington, DC and the Pentagon was restricted air space. I told him the the Pentagon is almost directly in the flight path of DCA. They also had the typical confusion about the timing of the Stewart intercept.
The $1000 guy also confronted me with the lack of debris at the Pentagon challenge. He didn't want to hear about the seats, DNA, personal belongings and the FBI picking up debris at the Pentagon he wanted photos. I told him that it is dumb to ask for photos from someone who is standing on a sidewalk. Next time I'll bring some.

Yeah- for next time I think I'll need to finish my "Gravy Binder" to combat some of those claims. If I would have known that the claims in LC:FC were just the same as before with very little difference, that's what I would have spent my time doing. Besides the Bermas rant and the one guy with the detcord claims, I can only hope that people actually go to the links we provided and find the answers to their "questions" they were "just asking". :)

I finished editing the video. I was hoping that one of my friends would be there to tape, while we schmoozed, unfortunately the one who came had a camera of his/her (Toto knows what I'm refering to) own, and the other ended up babysitting his sisters kids. So there isn't much.

I like the placard. You don't look much like your avatar.
I, on the other hand, never leave home without my cape.

So they grossed $2,580 maximum. I wonder how many seats they gave away.

According to a person who stayed for the Q&A Bermas only answered previously prepared questions.

This is their typical tactic. They don't want to be exposed. As if they weren't already.

I may be a bit naive- but I think the majority of the crowd was savvy enough that confiscating flyers and not answering questions from the audience is enough to make them at least go and check out the information we provided... er, if they still have it.

They were apparently looking for us after the show, armed with their fresh "twoof." One person outside told me it was going to be "completely new." Is it?

pw60N8PMyGwI didn't know you guys had big ol' signs! And you made them as graphically lame as truther signs: very clever! I wish some truther interaction had been captured, though.

It was only appropriate considering we were about half the size of a standard truther gathering anyway.

Well Gravy I hope you've got enough bottles to store all of your tears, because from what I hear, you won't be able to debunk a word of this new improved Truth. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
So it's going to be 2 hours of a blank screen?

Heh why not?
You wouldn't have to put up with Dyl's annoying voice over and the audience can draw their own conclusions. I'd call it a win-win for the Truth Movement.
