I've always wondered if we would find any more support for Thomas Gold's "deep, hot biosphere" hypothesis, and wonder if the recent very deep Brazilian oil strike might be that?

You mean the Santos field?
That's in deep water. It's not an outstandingly deep structure.

I don't know anything about the geology though.

Gold's notion is interesting. There's just this persistent dearth of evidence.
