The Virgin Mary has appeared once again, in a burnt California wildfire tree.

Looks like the Grim Reaper, to me.

Looks to me like Mary's making a rather obscene gesture with her left hand. I also saw a smiley face on her right side, though, so maybe I'm just seeing things..

Well, Mary may be their face, but everyone knows the Lorax speaks for the trees.

Grown up people, entitled to vote, are worshipping scorched tree bark. Holy ****.

Surely by now she's no longer a virgin.

Love the comment above the video, "Others say that people seeing this image really need to get laid."

Thanks for posting about this! As is my custom, I have ridiculed it (http://virginmaryagain.com/?p=36) mercilessly on my blog devoted exclusively to Marian fairy tale-related instances of pareidolia.

How did you get that past the auto censor??

By sheer force of confidence.

At least they have the dignity to show up in something like a Sycamore tree there. In Florida, Mary as well as Jesus seem to be resorting to pancakes now (just google jesus mary pancakes).

I'm surprised Denny's or IHOP haven't latched onto that story as a promotion, or offered to buy the holy pancake.

The Mary and Jesus Pancake (http://www.mondoskepto.com/node/187) sold on Ebay for $338. Of course, I've ridiculed the tale on my blog. :D

So, why exactly did Mary show up on the burnt tree? Is it her signature, her method of claiming responsibility for the fire?

The Blessed Arsonist of California doesnt have the same ring to it as some of her titles.

I didn't really see a Mary... it looked like burnt wood. Is this actually getting publicity? Any high quality, non video shots?

I see what kind of looks like the grim reaper. But the pancakes...I see nothing. I guess you'd have to be thinking about jesus and mary every second of your life in order to think you see them in burnt pancakes.

Does it strike you as odd that folks who have never met The Holy Virgin Mother of God or her Son/Lover/Father-In-Law are able to recognize these (fictional) people that they never saw in the first place?

i mean, hello? I can understand being tricked by pareidolia into thinking you see some anonymous human face, or the face of someone you know, or someone whose photograph you have seen, but recognizing a fictitious stranger whose appearance is unknown to you in the first place goes beyond pareidolia and arrives at hallucination IMHO. There seems to be a stunning lack of critical thinking skills involved, as if the mental process of the hallucinators goes directly from vague impression to absolute certainty. This can't be a sign of good mental health.

And why is it that only people who are afflicted with Catholicism are able to see the Holy Virgin Mother of God with Perfectly Intact Hymen?

Why do we not hear of Islamic terr'ists being converted to Catholicism because of a miraculous appearance of this Virgin Mommy? Isn't she into recruiting in the way that other Christians are?

And why do these miraculous appearances never seem to present us with images of pre-adolescent children that have been sexually abused by a Catholic priest or nun? Most people would equally have no idea what these child victims look like, so they seem to be equally well prepared to recognize them - not at all.

Not only that, but their DNA keeps finding itself in the gene pool.

Yes, I've previously documented this one as Our Lady of the Virginal Hardwood Vagina (http://virginmaryagain.com/?s=virginal+hardwood).

No, no. That looks to me like a silhouette of Freddy Kruger leaning in from the right (ie, her left). And 3/4 of a big puppy dog face to her right (it's missing the left eye and ear).

As for the central figure, that ain't no Virgin. It's Bloody Mary for sure. Because, if I remember my long-ago Catholic boyhood, I believe the picture of Mary is supposed to lean to the left (our left).
