A member of staff came to me to tell me that she has been diagnosed with some quite large fibroid growths. The plan is to remove them with keyhole surgery. But then she told me she was thinking of trying homeopathy. I told her firmly that she should listen to her doctors advice and go with the treatment he prescribed, and explained briefly that homeopathic remedies were just water. I also forwarded the skeptoid episode on homeopathy to her by email. Hopefully she will listen to it, and me and take the advice of her doctor.
I can see the lure of homeopathy for a young woman who doesn't want to undergo a surgery that could leave scars, but the problem could become very serious as although they are benign they are growing. fingers crossed the skeptoid podcast and myself will help her to make the right decision.
