I thought this conference was really interesting to listen to even though I am not a former Mormon. I do know a lot of former and practicing Mormons, and I think this is an awesome group of people.

(And I hope a moderator corrects my title to Recovery from Mormonism.)

Exmormons are fun people. Also, apparently converting people away from Mormonism is a good way to get laid. A friend of mine got his girlfriend that way. More than once, actually....

Why the need for exmormons? Mormons are fun. They dress neatly, are americans that are willing to learn any strange language (including swedish), everyone is an elder and they are masters at geneaology.

My experience, Mormons are either the above, and rather creepily polite, or they're obnoxious rednecks. Both types seem to be roughly equally common, though for obvious reasons only the former do much missionary work.

My experience with Mormons are very limited, I have only met one in my entire life. She was on a missionary trip to convert us Swedish heathens and approached me as I was waiting for the bus home after a night out. She didn't speak a word of Swedish (and it's not a strange language, thank you very much :(;)) but relied on the fact that most younger swedes speaks English. And she got all wild with joy as she saw the Northern Light (aurora borealis) appear at the night sky, as we were speaking - it almost made me a bit sad to have to be the one to inform her that it was the light show on the roof of the night club I had just left that she saw :D

I'd say she was indeed polite, but not that overly smart.
