My theory on JK:
I think JK schedules vacations a few times a year, and he pulls one of his "I'm leaving because nobody likes me" acts right before his vacation. Then, when people ask him not to leave, he rolls around in the compliments and sympathy before finally leaving for the vacation. When he comes back, he can't resist the forum so he just makes a lame excuse for coming back.
So where did you go on vacation, JK?
Hawaii?

Hi Jedi
I am glad to see you back. I enjoy your honesty and your sense of humor, I think that you have tones of sense of humor that most people just can't see.
This is the reason that Unique and you are among my favorite posters of the forum. Controversial, bright and humorous in your own way.
I want to bring to your attention though that there are many people here that have rised an issue regarding the scene you made when you left.
I seriously enjoy our debates especially those that you call me names ( femi-nazi , harlot etc ) but as long as you don't attempt to address the comments of people that got upset with your return our interaction goes to the category " guilty pleasures" .
I like to enjoy my "guilty pleasures" in the privacy of my house( don't take this an an invitation to come to Greece :p ) and not in an open , public forum so, I am asking you to post a comment regarding your previous behaviour. :)

I was correct in the gravity debate. You have only taken one part of what I said and twisted it into your athiest Jihadi agenda.
What I said was that if you roll a marble down one lane of a four lane highway, it would not affect a marble rolled down a lane on the opposite end of a highway. It can't because it can't overcome the mass of the earth. The marbles have no gravitational impact on each other whatsoever.

Fg = G* ((m1*m2)/(r^2))
where Fg is the gravitational force, G is the gravitational constant, m1 is mass 1 (marble 1), m2 is mass 2 (marble 2), and r is the distance from mass 1 to mass 2. I gave you your formula, now be a man and admit you were wrong.

Stalling, huh? Face it, you're wrong, and I'm right. Just admit it and get it over with.
Let's say the mass of each marble is .1 kg, and they are separated by .2 meters.
Fg = (6.67 x 10^-11 (N*m^2/kg^2))*(((.1 kg)(.1 kg))/(.2 m)^2)
Fg = 1.6675 x 10^-11 N
There you go, big boy, there is the graviational force. Notice that it does not equal to zero
Now admit you're wrong.

JK, you are wrong. Any two bodies have a force of gravitational attraction between them.
The presence or absence of the Earth has nothing to do with it; it just makes the force between them negligible compared to the force the Earth is exerting on the masses. Negligible does not mean the same as non-existant, as you seem to think.
The masses could be measured in femtograms and the distance between them in astronomical units, and the force would still be there. It would be very very very very very (*10^-74) small, to be sure, but it would be there.

Hey, I am always open to disproving dowsing and other psychic phenomena. Only the Jedi have true force powers.
Tell you what, let's do an experiment. I will roll a marble down a hill on one side of a road and you roll it down the other side and then you tell me when your marble is going to move mine as it rolls. Who said that the gravitational impact would be that large, JK? Everyone has been saying that it is very small, but it is still there. YOU are the one saying that the impact is zero. Why don't you show us a formula that says that the gravitational force is zero for small masses, or better yet, show us how force does not equal mass*acceleration.

Now can you explain what gravity has to do with walking around Mars without a spacesuit?
Gosh, my body, according to Bjorn, creates "gravity". I guess I can fly to Mars and walk around the surface of the planet without a spacesuit!

If there are no other stars or planets in the universe (or if they are extremely far away), then yes, your body and my body will pull towards each other. Even if there are planets or stars around, they will still technically pull towards each other. Every mass in the universe is attracted to every other mass. It's that simple.

Cleo, you are trolling. I am not apologising to you or anyone else on this forum for any debate I have had. I have never asked for nor demanded an apology for any of the venom spewn at me by the atheist Jihadis that post here. Don't be a hypocrite. A more detailed post by JK explaining physics:
The marbles didn't affect each other. I could roll one marble down one side of the road and it would behave the exact same way as if I rolled one down the other side of the road. The "marbles" obey the laws of physics. They do not create gravity. Gravity governs the marble. Anything with mass obeys gravity. Gravity is created in the universe by stars and the motion of the planets orbiting stars. That is where gravity comes from.
Now, explain to me how my body is going to create gravity so I can go to mars without a space suit and walk on the planet without one.

You have insulted people on a personal level and not only in the context of a debate.
It's a matter of dignity to do that and I think that you owe it to Hal as well who let you return although he knew that this decision would bring an uproar.
If you don't do it Jedi I will rise a big issue in the Moderation forum.

Sure, the atheist Jihadis (the hard core atheists) don't like me, but there are a lot of people that do like me (including myself lol). I really don't care if you like me or not. This isn't a popularity or beauty contest (but if it were I would win both). I am here to chat just like you, but you hate me. I don't have hate inside of me. That is where you and I differ.

Yes, that same formula applies for that situation. Basically, you can use that formula for any two masses anywhere in the universe. For example, you can use that formula to calculate the attraction between you and Mars, or a marble on Earth and a marble in the Andromeda galaxy. All you have to know is the mass of both objects and the distance between them (actually the distance between the center of one to the center of the other). I actually don't have a physics background, so I am stating the above to the best of my knowledge. But I am pretty sure that I am right.
It's quite amazing, huh? I still don't know how Newton came up with it...that formula shows just how smart he really was.
If you have any really technical questions, you probably need to talk to Stimpson J. Cat, I think he has a Ph.D in physics :)

Bjorn, if you are floating in outer space, does your body weight matter? Does it? Does your body make gravity?
2) At this point, someone tried to tell JK to drop the topic since his rants were making him look silly. But of JK is just smart for that, so he responded thusly:
This is way too easy. Bjorn, if I roll a marble down a hill on one side of the road and roll another marble down the same hill at the same time on the other side of the road, do the marbles affect each other's mass?
Do the marbles emit "gravity" or does "gravity" rule the marbles?
If I take the same marbles and send them into space and they pass each other, with their courses be affected? Absolutely not.
If you took physics, I am laughing at you thinking you learned something.
Let me teach you some things about Physics, Bjorn. If you take your "body" and put it on Pluto, would it "weigh" the same?
Just have to love atheist "mysticism" lol. Your "body weight" comes from something Bjorn, and it is not your body. That is the whole point of what I am talking about.
I will say it again since everyone is ignoring it either because they don't understand it or fear trying to reply to it:
The Big Bang is so much pseudo-science that I can hammer the theory in one simple post.
Does "space" have mass? Does it? We know "gravity" is generated by stars--does "space" generate gravity?
If I have two particles (The Big Bang Theory) of opposites and they connect and create a "universe", what was the "gravity effect" that brought those particles together to start it all? Was there a sun? There couldn't be because that is "something from nothing" (spontaneous generation mystical science).
Take it a step further--let's say that the two particles did "mystically" start the big bang. Let's also say that those two particles inhabited 1 cubic meter of space. Where did that cubic meter come from? Since there was no gravity, how did the particles meet? Did the two particles float in the cubic meter of space and eventually wander into each other causing this massive release of energy that created the universe?
How much "space" existed to allow the two particles to "mystically exist"? Given the size of the universe, the two particles must have originated in the same area of space, a very limited area, potentially a microscopic area.
Now, if any of this is true, that means that the "explosion" that started the universe started from a centralized location--a focal point. Where is this focal point (starting point)?
The universe is trillions of years old. But I bet The Big Bang Theory makes it easier not to think about it lol. Kind of like psychic dowsing.
Simple question--where did the "space" come from that allowed the two "particles" to exist to "create" the universe?
JK
3) He was again warned of what he silly he was looking and that he should let the issue go. So what did JK do, he wrote this:
Let what go--the scientific mysticism I am reading from Bjorn?
Let me ask you a simple question, Fool. If you are sent into outer space without a space suit, does your body create "gravity" in zero gravity?
Or does it...come apart?
JK
and this:
Gosh, my body, according to Bjorn, creates "gravity". I guess I can fly to Mars and walk around the surface of the planet without a spacesuit!
JK
4) Someone tried to explain to him that gravity is always formed by any object with mass, and that if two bodies with mass are placed near one another, then they will be drawn together. Did he listen? Nope, he wrote:
Your body wouldn't be attracted to mine in zero gravity. What BS are you trying to throw around Fool! Our bodies may randomly run across each other if the body fluid eruptions propelled them on the same course after zero gravity death. But we would not create gravity to attract each other.
JK
5) Here is my favorite, it is where JK floats his idea that gravity is created by stars and the motions of planets.
JK
6) Once again, people tried to explain to him how gravity is actually generated, and did he listen. Nope! He just wrote:
Sure Bjorn, and if I roll a marble down the highway in California in will affect the one I roll down the highway in Florida, won't it?
This is the best comedy I have read by Bjorn in a very long time.
JK
And he wrote this as well:
Gosh, so you are saying that if your body is floating near Saturn it will attract mine floating near Mars.
Jesus this is the most hilarious crap I have ever heard.
Gravity is "weight", right Fool? Your body "creates" weight in space (creates gravity)?
Better pass the pipe to Bjorn lol. This is hilarious!!!!!!!
JK
And this:
The marbles don't affect each other Bjorn. They obey, they do not order.
JK
And by this time, he started to think that people were telling him that humans are the source of gravity.
Oh I get it. The universe revolves around humans because of all the "gravity" we create LOL. How stupid of me.
JK
Once again, that thought that humans create all the gravity.
Yep, the universe revolves around humans lol. Why didn't I see it before.
Absolutely hilarious.
JK
Still hung up on that humans and gravity thing in spite of the numerous attempts to correct him.
OK Bjorn, humans create gravity and that holds the universe together--just like you said lol.
JK
As dense as ever.
No way am I going to let you get away with the nonsense you are spouting Bjorn. You said humans "create gravity". Humans have gravity because of our mass but we do not "create" gravity. We do not generate gravity.
But I like your theory about humans being the center of the universe--it fits with the atheist religion.
JK
Density still increasing.
Yep, that is what you said. You said humans create gravity Bjorn and your pal Fool piled on in support of you. This is going to be hilarious by the time I am done with you.
Bjorn, you took Physics, right? At least you claim that you have.
Anyway, what is gravity? Gravity is "true weight".
Again, if I take a human and put them into zero gravity, will the human generate gravity? You and Fool claim that humans do. I say that they do not. Since zero gravity reduces human weight, how can a human "generate" gravity in zero gravity?
Come on Bjorn genius. Come on smart guy. Explain it to me.
JK
7) Now we start to see his vaunted math skills at work:
Bjorn, you said humans "create gravity". If that is true, why do humans need this:
Ac = V'2/R
Why do humans need that Bjorn if humans "create gravity" in zero gravity?
Class is in session.
JK
And this page finished up with this tidbit of mathematical wisdom as well.
Bjorn, if humans create gravity, why is this [When ac = g then Fc = w] important?
Class is in session.
JK

I'm with you on this. As much as everyone likes to heap abuse on him, (and he did step over the line with Fool), I feel sorry for him. He was clearly troubled and suffering emotional pain. I would say he was also very lonely and depressed. He did find some friendship on this board that I think meant something to him, as much as he was exasperated by his inability to get just about anyone to agree with him.
As you say, his hatred of women appears to be due to his mother's treatment of his family. My guess is that he was kicked out of the armed forces, which would have been something he loved and was his substitute family. He wanted to get a job as a right wing analyst for the CIA or any think tank that would have him. I don't see that happening.
He did develop some capacity to laugh at himself, which I thought was a good sign. However, people such as Fool, rather than just tolerate him for what he was, did attack him for some of his more outrageous statements. His return attack on Fool just displayed his immaturity. Fool was prepared to wear that, and I thought it had all died down. However, the next time Fool attacked him for some stupid comment he made, he then launched back into an attack on Fool and his family issues.
I really do think that Fool, although he was correct in his assesment of JKs faults, should have just left him alone. JREF was actually something that helped JK mature, which is probably more than he got from most of his other experiences in life.
I also think Hal was right to let him back for another try. As JK said, if you don't like he had to say, and I don't think there was anything I agreed with that he had to say, then you could just put him on ignore. As it was, like I said, when JK was around, there was no such thing as a slow news day.
He was not a troll like S&S or Genghis. JK was just what he was.

I was willing to ignore him, and had him on ignore. But when you see posts espousing violence and hatred you have a duty to take a stand, or else acquiesence is taken for assent. The old "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing."
I didn't care if he asserted that we came from Mars, but when he claimed no woman was ever abused, and the ones who were killed were sluts (all married women having dozens of illicit partners, etc.) you can't let that go by without trying to resist.
Factual beliefs with no evidence are delusional at some point. And when those delusional thoughts justify hatred or violence, you can't sit by.
This hit home when I saw a PBS special on hate groups in Idaho, I think it was. First they vandalized a single Native American mom's home, then threw a brick through a Jewish kid's window because she had a mennorah in the window..
The response of the community still brings tears to my eyes.
They went and repaired the woman's house.
And the local paper printed mennorahs and everyone put one up in their windows.
What happens to any of us happens to all of us.
Nazi Germany happened because too many "good" people were willing to let things be said and done as long as it wasn't directed against them.
I don't have any ill feelings toward JK the person, and never did, and I expressed that to him on several occassions. I detested the behavior.
No one lives their lives based on hate without there being some reason for that negative behavior. These people are unhappy and hurting, and I can sympathize with that without tolerating the behavior.

He certainly was a mess of contradictions. For example, he claimed to be a supporter of Israel, but couldn't seem to handle, Cleopatra, who is half Jewish, not being a one-eyed supporter of Israel and taunter of ignorance.
Still, I think it was better for him to be here, where we could at least keep an eye on him and point out his most basic misapprehensions, rather than just kick him out. As I say, I was surprised to see him developing a sense of humour about himself towards the end.

Which is one of the main points of the debate. As long as Americans aren't threatened, then they aren't concerned. However, if you're an Iranian on an airliner, you may be shot down. Or a Vietnamese after independence or a Chilean voting for a democratic government. Then you had better watch out.

So,
I leave town and JK comes back...then he leaves!!?? What's up with that? I have to admit that I like JK. He has some redeeming qualities. (please don't ask for a list...I'll admit now that it wouldn't be a long one) The fact that I kinda like JK is horrifying on one level, and embarassing on yet another. He's admirable in his devotion to his country...IMHO that is....and yet some of the stuff he spouts just makes you say WTF??!! He's like a wreck on the side of the road....nasty, but then you can't seem to look away either.
Perhaps he is incapable of saying sorry to Fool...if so then I pity him. Perhaps he has no children and thus has no idea how callous his words were?? Who knows... I'm not here to be his apologist. What he said was beyond the pale...no matter what the provocation.
As for Hal,...all I can say is "bravo!" It's good that you give people the benefit of the doubt, along with second chances.
BTW...to change the subject completely, my own daughter made the Washington Post last Sunday after being in a Sept 11th memorial with her GS troop..she got to be the flag bearer....check out the
picture (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A6893-2003Sep13.html)
...and if anyone wants to say negative stuff about her I'd want to kick their a$$ just as bad as Fool likely wanted to do to JK.

*snip* Mmm, I did no prodding this time, but only because he vanished before I had time. I do hope I did my share during the previous round.
So why do I not just put him on ignore (and a few like him)?
Because people like him are destructive. They seek confrontation and will do or say anything to achieve it. They won't be ignored; if they don't get a rise, they will step up the heat till they do.
I have (and Fool has) tried to argue with JK in a reasonable way repeatedly, but to no avail. He was impervious to logic, unable or unwilling to change his ideas, lying and making up things whenever it suited him.
I know JK is just a sick puppy, and driving him off the edge will not do him any good as a person, but this place is not an institution. It is not a place where sick people can yell at the moon and smash up the furniture. JK needs help, but we here are not in a position to help him unless he is willing to receive it, and unlike some who have passed by these pages, he was clearly not.
All that was left was to remove his destructive influence. This has been done. It was not nice, but it had to be done. The holy ones can go and wash their hands now.

All it takes to evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.

I don't think he lied so much as he could not admit when he was wrong, which was pretty often. You have to leave someone with an escape hatch sometimes, so that they have a way out of looking like they have lost. For someone like JK, who had a deeply damaged self-image, this was important. That is, having shown him he was wrong, just leave it at that. It's not as if him saying that 50% of women are tarts means that anyone believes it, or means that lynch mobs will be forming.
I found his most offensive rants were about needing to nuke NK because there weren't enough troops around to invade them after the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. I don't think his thinking that meant that it was any more or less likely to happen.

I repeat that I couldn't sit back comfortably on my chair and enjoy Jedi's absurd posts while other people here had serious reasons for feeling offended by his presence.
This is a serious issue in a community. Communities have to make choices , I hate the : " Take it easy" or " What's your problem" approach. It is my problem. This is a serious issue in a community. Communities have to make choices , I hate the : " Take it easy" or " What's your problem" approach. It is my problem. I can't fool around with Jedi in one thread and make jokes with Fool or Luciana or Denise that have serious reason not to like him -- to another.
Simple things. All he needed to do was to compose an apology.
Jedi is smart, he should have known better.
Sorry to be so blunt, but he was a blithering blathering idiot.
And to top it off he espoused hateful, violence condoning ideas.
There's nothing entertaining in that.

I think he was intelligent enough, but with the emotional maturity of a teenager. (Ref, LK).

It's ok. It seems that we define intelligence quite differently.
To me idiots are the semi-educated that take themselves so seriously that they believe that they have the obligation to preach their beliefs. To them, self-sarcasm is not a word that is included in their vocabulary.
As for this :
And to top it off he espoused hateful, violence condoning ideas.
If you read several people's posts in this forum you will realize that he isn't the only one. He didn't have the tact to cover it and this is what made him very unpleasant. As I said, he should have known better, he got what he deserved, I am not sorry for him.

I'm not glad he's gone, I'm not glad he was here. He was just JK and he happened to be here and he was what he was. The only people I was really glad to see the end of were the likes of Genghis Pwn and Latinijral, who actively set out to screw everything up.

I totally agree with you!
Hey Unique! Let's take down the date we agreed on something :p

Only way he could escape the liar brand would be ignorance. He was far too intelligent and educated to be ignorant.
JK lied habitually, making up information and statistical figures whenever it suited him. I have a list somewhere, but since he is gone, just let this suffice: He once claimed that the Volkswagen was designed by Crysler as an aid to Germany after the war.
Now, silly fools I can live with and ignore, but intelligent deliberate liars and provocateurs, I feel the need to fight. I prefer to fight them simply with the truth, but sometimes this does not suffice, and then "ve haff otter metods" ;) .
As for JK being merely a charming joker: I don't buy that one. First of all, his cruelty was not very charming, and his tantrums whenever he got pressed show he was actually serious.

I don't think JK got prodded too hard on his brief return, it was pretty mild stuff.
While he is not alone in having handed out the abuse, I think most people would make a distinction between saying vile things about a person (fair game) and saying vile things about a member of their family (lame 'yo momma' comments aside).
If it was not made clear to him by Hal that an apology to Fool was a prerequisite of his return to the forum, then I think the circumstances of his ban were unfortunate, but I shan't be losing sleep over it.

I admit to prodding Jedi pretty hard before his first exit, but his implosion kind of scared me. He acted genuinely crazy, and with his tacit approval of some kinds of violence, I was worried he might do something foolish, so I left him alone on his return.
Normally, though, I do prod trolls. My reasoning is that to protect the reputation of the JREF boards, trolls should not go unchallenged. I know Randi disagrees with me on this, but to heck with him. Let him get his own... um... Maybe I'd better think about this.
