Today marks the first anniversary of the site's opening to the public on November 27th, 2006.
Now, twleve months, seventy-nine articles (just over 1.5 per week), and more than a million page requests (averaging more than 3,000 per day) later, the site continues to grow and to attract both public and media interest.
From all of the links to the site you've added, to promoting it on blogs and other forums, to the encouragement and ideas you've given me, to the research many of you have done (Questioning Geller and EeneyMinnieMoe especially), the denizens of this forum have played no small part in the success and effectiveness of the site over this past year.
My thanks to you all, and here's looking forward to the next year, and even more success!

Congrats Robert,
I hope that every other birthday the site has can celebrate how long it has been since Silvia has been taken down. You have done an amazing job at staying level-headed and have been more than fair to the other side. Once again, thanks for everything you and your contributers do.

Robert: you are a champion. Watching SSB grow from so small a pup has been a real inspiration. You daily prove one person can make a difference! Keep up the good work!
My psychic prediction for 2008? I sense (and I'm right at least 87 percent of the time) that you will contiue to be a pain in SB's posterior!

Robert - you've made such a difference with your dedication to TRUTH.
And speaking of truth - I just read something in SB's newest book (that I need to get back to the library come to think of it).
Finally - one thing out of her mouth that's not a lie...... she says, "With the instant communications that we now have, no one can stop truth from coming out."
That's right Sylvia - even YOU can't stop the truth from coming out.
Again, thank you RSL and Happy Birthday SSB.

Even more important than the number of months, articles, or page requests, are the number of people you have helped. Any estimates on that?

Happy B-day SSB! I also can't believe it's been a year. When I see how much has already gone into the site and all the articles you already have I just sit here and say, "wow!"
And all the changes SSB has made in people's lives and all the changes on Montel prove what a difference you and your contributors have made.
Thanks for all your hard work, RSL. It DOES make a difference!

Congrats Bob ... you are doing a great job. This caused me to visit your site and I noticed something about a Sylvia Browne cruise and its backers/sponsors/organizers. I have seen their name before linked to other "psychics."
So, while I am writing I was wondering if you have ever looked into the company known as Hay House, who is behind it and who their clients are and why we never seem to hear about their operation but rather those who sign up with them....

RSL (et all) - The work you've done with the SSB site (as well as your Kaz site) has had a tremendous positive impact.
Here's to looking forward and continued success, and to the day you can say "job accomplished" and shut it down.

This is Hay House Publishing (http://www.hayhouse.com), publishers of many "self help" and "metaphysical" titles, including many of Browne's books. They also sponsor most of her lecture tours as well as her cruises, and her weekly radio/podcast on Hay House Radio (http://www.hayhouseradio.com).
Hay House has a stable of "psychic" authors who are usually the ones who appear with Browne in her lectures and cruises.
Hay House was founded by Louise Hay (http://www.louisehay.com).
I'm not certain if this answwrs your question. I have not looked into them beyond finding out the above information.

Hay House is pretty well known as a publisher and promoter of psychics and other new age nonsense. It was founded by Louise Hay - one of the spiritualists from the '70s who managed to keep reinventing herself to stay successful - as a self-publishing outfit for her crap. Say what you will about woo, she appears to have been an excellent businesswoman. She grew her press into a large speciality publisher. If you've seen Oprah, you've probably seen an author published by Hay House.

Thanx for the info on Hay House. As an author of a number of books, none on metaphysics of any kind, I know that I get ten to 15% and the publisher gets to keep 85-90% which, I guess, makes them the big winners in this business, even after their costs. I see by their website that not only do they publish books by Browne and John Edward and the others referred to, they also set-up paid admission lectures/demos and yes, expensive cruises. They seem to have a lock on this business and clearly a lot is at stake for them should one of their personalities go south. I agree this is woman Hay turned out to be a shrewd business person. I wonder who runs things today.
It is interesting that everyone seems to focus on the personalities out in front of the audiences but little or nothing is ever said about the folks raking in the really big bucks based on their appearances.

Hopefully we will see a press release in the future that reads something like...
"The once famed fake psychic Sylvia now resides in a state mental heath institute on planet X. She must be restrained with a staight-jacket and kept in a padded room. Her handlers attributed her downfall to the 'StopSylviabrowne' website..."

So...who's next for us, whenever this does end? I'd like to nominate Kevin Trudeau or Benny Hinn. I think I'd be up to the job of taking on them :).

Dear Robert,
I am very late on wishing the Stop Sylvia brown website a happy birthday.
A few days after I registered, I forgot my password and got busy with life, but I've kept up on the postings in this forum. I just recently got a new password so I'm finally posting.
I wanted to wish your website more than a happy birthday, but also a huge Thank You for creating the stop sylvia brown website. My mom and about 20 people I know appreciate your website as well. I gave them the link to your website and none of those people like sylvia any more and they know she is a con.
Anyways, you have my support and I look forward to reading future articles.
Thank you and many blessings to you. :)
An SSB Fan,

Actually it's supposed to be "bated breath", from an obsolete form of "abated" used only in this idiom.
http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-bai1.htm
But you are all not alone in the error.
"Baited" will probably become common usage eventually.
Very interesting read Robert. It took more than guts, it took caring to go through all of that. Thanks.

Great article, Robert. How you keep your cool in all situations is a thing to be admired. If that woman called me nasty, the security would've kicked me out for a reason.
