One of the neat things about skeptics is that they generally have a keen interest in things scientific. And that certainly applies to the New England group.
Her's a photo from our geology field trip on the Maine coast where we all ckecked out rocks and things. Boo is testing the shape and configuration of the coastal rocks, while Wowbagger videotapes those rocks and things.

Yep, that's exactly what I was doing. I was videotaping THE ROCKS, not Boo, of course. Just THE ROCKS! Yeah, that's it. Uh huh.

I really was filming the rocks, though. I've got all the raw footage to prove it.

If Kitten had said that she was filming the rocks, I would have believed it. But a guy from Westchester? Well, more analysis is required.
boorocks.jpg
As we can see from this enhanced photo, the camera angle intersects with Boo's body in two locations. At location one, we can assume that Wowbagger was filming the glutial gyrations needed to maintain balance on such an uneven surface.

However, given that this is a 2-d analysis of a 3-d environment, we have to consider that it's possible Wowbagger was merely verifying the accuracy of Boo's avatar.

Now, it is possible that he was in fact shooting the rocks just beyond Boo, but since we have two points of interesection with Boo, and only one with the rocks, I must conclude that Wowbagger has a really interesting collection of videos at home. The FBI has been notified.

Look, this is all scientific and stuff, so just admit it Wowbagger.

Hmm, you know Jeff, that might have worked remarkably well if you'd cropped the bottom edge of the picture off (i.e. the feet), so we can't actually see that Wowbagger is standing right next to Boo and not behind her.

You get points for effort, but you still failed though. Dammit ...

Be gone with your silly noise.. I used REAL SCIENCE to come to my conclusions.

Besides, as the remaining living author of The Bell Curve said, it's not the evidence that's important. It's the conclusions.

with sophisticated electronics, I am sure Wowbagger could send us the focal length and aperature setting--in addition to the raw footage. This would enhance the analysis since we can estimate distances...lots of optic types on the forum.

You are forgetting one very important thing, though: My eyes are not looking at the video camera, which indicates that I was not even recording anything with it at that moment. If I was, then either my eyes would be in the viewfinder, or the side-screen thing would be open. You can tell from this photo that I was, in fact, looking at the rocks.

I haven't laughed so hard in ages- Who says techie skeptics don't have a sense of humor? But all this also brings to mind all those purported photos of Loch Ness monsters, UFOs and Big Foot......To say nothing of Grassy Knoll shooters, and multiple Oswalds.
So what we now need is someone to come foward who videotaped Boo and Wowbagger. Then we could see if Wowbagger's head actually moves "...back and to the left. Back and to the left. Back and to the left..."

Simple misdirection, combined with a sidelong glance.

Personally, my attraction to the rocks was a vested interest in retaining my footing.

They were cool looking rocks though. There never is a Kitten around when you need one.

A hello from me...have now been back in the UK for nearly four weeks, and still think of my visit to the States a lot - it was really great, and New England was so beautiful. By the way, I lost about a few pounds since that photo of me with the firefighter and Suezoled was taken (end of page 7), hopefully will look slightly thinner on any new photos of skeptical get togethers...

Lots of love from old England to New England posters...
