What's the Deal?

What on earth is the deal lately? There's been a sudden explosion of lengthy ghost stories ending in "So, can you debunk THAT?"

Well, of course not. None of us were there. It wasn't recorded in any way. It's a STORY.

Now, I can write about how this one time, I was lying in bed in my room trying to fall asleep when suddenly the curtains blew, like in the wind, only the windows weren't open and I got so scared I counted backwards from ten to calm myself down and on zero every framed picture in the room crashed to the floor and suddenly an image of my grandmother appeared at the foot of the bed and she smiled at me and disappeared and at that exact moment the phone rang and it was my mother, who had been visiting my grandmother in the hospital and on the drive there a black cat had run in front of their car and my grandmother had died seconds beforehand so clearly the image at the foot of the bed was her ghost and she knocked all the pictures on the wall down to get my attention and clearly this is evidence of ghosts because there is absolutely no other explanation and I know because I was there so debunk THAT.

*sigh*

The above story is for entertainment purposes only and is entirely falsified. This story is not based on true persons or true events.

Sometimes air pressure or humidity can make drywall suddenly warp. That might cause pictures to fall off the wall. Otherwise, I would suggest you get a wooden stake, dig up your grandmother, baptise her corpse and then re-kill her so she can get through the doorway into heaven.

Was the computer you wrote this on located above a quartz deposit or a vortex?

On a related note, this Ghost Hunters Halloween Special has to be the worst thing ever put on television. I'd welcome their usual chicanery at this point.

OT, but Remie, let me know any updates on action in Duane's case. Email me about it, in fact.

I want hate mail. I'm not getting a ton of hits. And I have some good stuff. Remie, you need to update my link on your page. You've linked to the private forum, not the website!

Regarding the OP:

There's another thread here somewhere with an anecdotal story about a 10 year old seeing his gradmother's ghost in the hallway at 3am. Or something like that.

Well, it's no wonder kids believe in ghosts and such. It's drilled into their heads from every direction. My 4 year old daughter was watching Treehouse (a channel with pre-school programming) yesterday. With it being Halloween, almost every cartoon had ghosties in it. I'm constantly reassuring her that there's no such thing.

Makes me wonder what believers tell their 4 year olds. "Yes honey, it's all real and one day perhaps you'll get lucky and see your dead and decomposing gramma floating in the hallway staring at you with hollow eyes. Now go to sleep like a good girl."

That is a very good point and one that I bring up often, sometimes on the TAPS board. What do they say to comfort their kids? My son sometimes wakes up because of bad dreams or can't go to sleep because of noises and I always am able to tell him that there is nowhere safer than his house.

Alternatively, I could tell him that there could be a demon under his bed and that we'll need a priest, holy water, and some IR equipment to investigate and get rid of it.

Let me think about which is the better route...
