Dino-blood and the Young Earth

Maybe this belongs in Religion rather than Science, but there's some real science here and it's a close call, so here it is.

Dino-blood and the Young Earth

Quote:
A common young earth creationist (YEC) misinterpretation of the discovery of surviving organic, and organometalic molecules in ancient bone is that this "proves" that the Earth is young and that geological and radiometric data should be ignored. The ancient surviving materials they commonly refer to are fragments of hemoglobin and osteocalcin (a bone protein) extracted from dinosaur bone. There are many problems with their position, but ultimately it reduces to nothing other than they just don't think that organic molecules can last a long while. The "Creation Science" approach is to deny the independent results of geology, chemistry and astronomy because these molecules exist.
This is from a point of view that I don't quite agree with, but he sure gives is to the young-Earthers.

What do the YECs have to say about other biological molecules--numbers of which have been found in Proterozoic rocks, much older than the dinosaurs, predating even the Cambrian explosion?

That they believe that biologicals can not exist for long periods and that therefore the other dating methods must be wrong.

Or more precisely, any dating method that produces any result over 10,000 years is wrong. All research is devoted to determining why all those methods are wrong.

As for whether or not we are talking about science. If the data predicted by a theory and the data collected in the field differ by six orders of magnitude and the researchers' only thought is, "why are those people collecting data making so many mistakes," then we are not dealing with science.

The Evil Atheist Conspiracy manufactures the biological molecules, ages them with some unknown process, and plants them in the ground for scientists to find later. Come on, open your eyes!
