Paranormal Activity director skeptical

I read an interview with the new movie "Paranormal Activity" director, Oren Peli on MSN. He said some of the footage was inspired by a strange occurence in his house in San Diego, but:
Quote:
Still, he remains doubtful that, like the two youthful protagonists in his film who are terrorized by a demon, he was being visited by something otherworldly.
Also he noted:
Quote:
"If I was provided with hardcore evidence, I might change my mind," Peli said. "There might be something invisible. The prospect is scary, it's terrifying. I'm more of a theological person, though. I tend not to believe."
I am not sure exactly what he means by "theological", but I like the idea that he is based in reality, and he is aware of the separation of what can be made to occur on film and what occurs in real life.

Here is a link to the original article for interested parties:

He is planning a similar approach to his next movie "Area 51", about the possibilities of extraterrestrials and such. I wonder if he has the same feelings about ETs as he does about ghosts.

I went and saw this the other night. While standing in line to get tickets I heard the three young girls in front of us discussing if this movie was actually real or not. Two of them decided that because they, "believed everything" that it would, in fact, turn out to be real. The third said she wasn't sure but, "you two are usually right about these things."

I saw the movie (reluctantly since I don't believe in the paranormal and was doubtful that the movie would be any good) and just happened to sit next to a few teenage girls one of which started crying and didn't stop till the credits finished... I on the other hand laughed about the same amount interrupted with long periods of boredom (or for the girls next to me suspense). I don't understand how people can take this movie seriously.

and you stayed and watched the movie? I think I would've went home at that point and watched Strange Brew. But I'm kinda cranky that way.

the movie is topping the charts...which...actually...is...not surprising...

I just want to clarify that the interview I posted makes him seem skeptical. I have heard of other reports that cast him in an entirely different light. Maybe he is just catering to his audience to garner ticket sales. I don't know. I have heard from some that the movie is good and others that the movie is dull. I probably won't go see it.

And yet you are willing to watch a movie that supports the idea that music can be used to condition reactions in people, or that old breweries are haunted with the ghosts of former owners who were killed there? Or that floppy disks can survive long periods of time getting creased in various unmentionable places, eh?
