Brown coming to town.
So I'm rummaging through the local events rag, and I spot an ad for Sylvia Brown who will be coming to my town soon to do her shtick.
Now I'm not big on the activist scene (for skepticism); I'm not the protesting type either (yes, I'm lame... whatever), but I can't help but wonder if there is anything I could do on the occasion of her visit that would actually be productive and possibly encourage people to think good and hard about what she really represents. Any one have any ideas? Pierce |

One person did do something. See this thread http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=173402.
For other information about Sylvia see the tag I just gave this thread. |

Does anyone know how the event went? Was anyone there to present a skeptical viewpoint?

The person who created the OP has not been on the forum since the show. Maybe it did not go well?

I am most certainly NOT coming to town. At least not to Pottawattamie County. Apart from holding the school where my grandparents were educated, there is really not much worthwhile to see in Council Bluffs.

Yep, missed the 'e' on the end of her name in the subject. Sorry, Brown!
Well, I didn't go to the "event". My mother's 69th birthday celebration took precedence (spare the sexual jokes; she got plenty ribbed by her family!). I looked around for a write-up of the "event", but I can't find anything (which is actually a really good thing -- no free publicity for her!). I would be curious how well these things are attended though. Thanks for the ideas, everyone. Sorry for the half-baked motivation on my part. P |
