Seventhed.
I too knew nothing of the lies, contradictions and general fallaciousness of the babble 'til I stumbled across the 'new testament truthiness' thread. Followed links and discovered that the apololgists demand that you eschew all rationality as opposed to the scholors that provide real evidence based upon history, archaelogy and reason. I suppose I should thank DOC in some perverse and backhanded way. |

Eighthed.
Tim's posts in particular are full of sources, in contrast to DOC's, who posts very few sources other than his Big Book of Fairytales. DOC, I look at all the posts on their merits. I follow links, I do exactly what you advise in that I let the posts speak for themselves. Unfortunately, I find your posts less than persuasive and your use of weasel words (may, might, could have) unconvincing. |

Let me repeat a caveat I've expressed at least once before in this thread.
I think it's almost inevitable that there are one or more prophecies that DOC might be able to reasonably point to and announce them fulfilled. Not because prophets could see an already written future*, but something to do with the law of large numbers - with enough prophecies** scattered about, some are highly likely to have transpired. So, I think having DOC only have to show ONE fulfilled prophecy is way too low a bar. *If they could, implying the future is written, I see fundamental problems with free will and all sorts of paradoxes. But that's maybe taking this off on a tangent. **Have we adequately defined a prophecy? Can God prophesy, or does it require a proclaimed prophet? Or can just anyone in the bible throw guesses out there to see what sticks? |

The DOCisms come so thick and fast, it's hard to pick a winner. ;

By popular demand, The list is updated with the requested addition.
DOC has successfully demonstrated a fulfilled biblical prophecy: 1 DOC has failed to demonstrate that biblical prophecies have been fullfilled. 43 Doc has successfullly demonstrated that the OT is largely made up of incomprehensible gibberish: 16 Do you believe any of these[prophecies in a google list] came true? No:23 So you believe these[prophecies in a google list] came true? Yes:0 Who's posts are more "informational"? DOC's:0 Tim Callahan et al:11 ETA: added Robotimbo and the pharoah |

Add me to the list of people who have learned from you and TimCallahan, please. There are quite a few others who have greatly contributed but if I start listing them, I know I'll forget some. DOC would not be on that list but he would be the single person on the list of people who have taught me what kind of dishonest tactics that apologists use so I guess in a way, he has taught me a lot.

Good work, joobz. Have a chocolate.
Also, at your leisure, please add my name to the last group. Even my posts are more informative than DOC's, and I'm only here for . . . umm . . . I'll get back to you on that. Also also, a belated congratulations re your tenure. Have another chocolate.

If I had any wine left in this bottle I'd raise it to you for your tenure, joobz. Sadly the wine is gone but my congratulations are no less heartfelt.
Say, did we get any fulfilled prophecy yet? No? Ah well, I'll stick around for the pictures. |

You'd better add me to the "no" list on on the list of google prophecies and the Tim Callahan is more informational list. Please.
