The notion of someone fabricating a backstory of being a former terrorist in order to make a living on anti-terrorism speaking tours isn't new. Walid Shoebat continues to make a living doing exactly that, despite almost certainly being a fraud.

That said, former extremists rejecting their views isn't particularly unusual, either.

Anyway if I wanted to watch former terrorists I'd keep a closer eye on Repubic of ireland politics.

Looking through his website, it looks as though he favors a very moderate form of Islam that looks upon Jews and Christians as equals and supports human rights in general.

He calls himself a "reformer of Islam".

Are the views expressed in the video of this op so unique? I take it many strive to discount his background in order to circumvent the arguments this person's making.

So yeah, hardly unique. As for Cleon, here's another one Mosab Hassan Yousef. Arguments/message again, not unique, neither is the form of making a living from it. People have made their riches in far worse methods than speaking tours and book deals.

But no worries, these conversions from Islam to Christianity and whatnot, are pretty rare.
