Recall Scott Walker: Republicans can vote in Democrat primary

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1413469.html

"A top Republican lawmaker in Wisconsin has suggested that GOP voters may cause mischief at the polls in May, when Democratic voters pick the candidate who will face Gov. Scott Walker (R) in the recall's general election in June. Wisconsin has open primaries, allowing voters of any party to vote in any election. So Republicans are free to vote in Democratic primaries, and vice-versa.
There are currently four Democratic candidates competing in the May primary. Former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett are considered frontrunners, with state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) and Secretary of State Doug La Follette also in the race.
On Monday, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Senate Republican Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) "said some Republicans may vote for Falk in the Democratic primary because polling shows she does not perform as well as Barrett in head-to-head matchups with GOP Gov. Scott Walker."
"There's nothing to keep the Republicans from messing around," Fitzgerald said, according to the newspaper."

Madison Politiscope: Many Democrats may vote in Wisconsin GOP primary

Santorum WI vote boosted by Democratic crossovers

What's the big deal?
It's an open primary, people cross over when there's no race on their side.

You can always tell what echo chamber someone is living in when they refer to the "Democrat party".

I have nothing against open primaries on principle but I dislike it when people want to screw around with it. Had Santorum still been in it when the California primary came around I knew people that wanted to vote for him for the lulz. And that bothered me.

Michigan has open primaries. Democrats "cause mischief" in Republican primaries there on a regular basis, for years.

Most recently, they decided to gang up to support, hehe, Santorum, and then Santorum started robo-calling Democrats to encourage them.

It's really kind of stupid. Any system can be gamed. They should probably go back to the old way.

Wouldn't a five point spread be beyond the 4.5 margin of error?

So is everyone on board that "mischief making" is not a good thing? Oh, it's good when "your guys" mess up the "other guys". But when the shoe is on the other foot?
