My account has very low download limits- not much sense having high ones. I don't watch much TV or movies and I have a perfectly good radio. My major internet activities are all textual.

Plus, if you disable images you can cut your browsing bandwidth by at least tenfold.

I know it is easy to do in Firefox version line 3, and you can even add an exceptions list, where images are loaded for that site, like randi.org

Where are y'all getting that screen capture? Maybe the site over here is different, but I get results in order of Ping, Download, Upload. And if I want to see my letter grade, I have to go to a different screen.

(They score Ping 28ms, Down 10.4, Up .9 as a B- internationally but A- for Thailand. Broadband here has gotten better but it's still pretty bad.)

There is a button labelled "Share this result" that shows up once your test is finished. You have to click that and then copy some code to your clipboard and then paste it here. I had problems finding it at first too, although it is not exactly hidden.

Try hitting the share button.

I work at home, so that's both home and work. Not bad, and I'm only paying for the mid-level speed. I could pay more and get faster speeds, but this seems to suit my needs.

Ah, I can get that format, but I'm too dense to figure out how to cut and paste the image. All I get is a link.

Anyhow, it's showing scores that would be B or C in this thread, but shows me the A-Minus because of Thailand's general connectivity. Frankly, while my ISP in HK was faster on paper, I've had less delays here and I'm on wireless.

I thought my work speed was better than this. *sigh*

Now I'm going to have to test at home.

QIMG in brackets followed by URL, then /QIMG, again in brackets.

You'll be horrified to know I used to do just that. I'm not a visual person. (The clue's in the avatar.)

I find for most websites I visit , the speed I get is quite adequate. The wife's on the network at the moment too and neither of us has speed problems. For anyone not downloading / streaming media, I can't see much real need for anything much faster than what I have. The old setup was roughly twice as quick in theory, but I'm not aware of that in use.

That's a pretty decent summary of my job. Depending on the issue that arises though it can get pretty hairy at a moment's notice, so I figure I earn it.

What's weird, is that when quoting a post that has the image, it shows qimg. When I first posted my reply, the image was visible, after I reloaded the page, only the link is there. Anyone know why?

Weirdly, my work connection at the moment says my upload speed is 50 times faster than my download speed!

But check that ping!!

In the user CP under "Edit Options" you have the following choice:
Convert [IMG] to [url] in quotes?

With this option you can choose whether [IMG] tags in quoted text should be shown as [url] (a link will be displayed instead of the actual quoted image) or should be left as [IMG] (the inline image will be shown).

[X] Convert to [url] [ ] Image
If you choose the "Convert to [url]" option then any [IMG] tags are replaced with [ QIMG ] tags which displays the image as a link only.

This can be very handy if you are quoting a poster who included a large image in his/her post.
