The Second Amendment is totally about hunting! ....Redcoats through the woods. But still, that's hunting. And if the British ever come back with their weird pronunciation and Tardises and Mrs Slocombe's pussy, we'll be ready. Yes, I'm free, Mrs Slocombe. Free to fill you with lead if you don't back away from my property. Nice and slow! No sudden moves. And I'm unanimous in that.

This issue is stupid and this whole thing is either Swimming Australia overreacting or a cynical ploy to get the public on the side of these two people who've had shadier pasts.

Well, no. The second amendment is about the federal government taking over state debts. I can't imagine it would have anything to do with hunting.

That is absolutely insane. Those guys are completely out of their minds. At least the Australian insanity seems to be isolated to the swimming organization and the Herald Sun. Lol.

I think they're talking about the US amendment, which I think has something to do with keeping bear arms.

No. Torpedos are anti-vessel weapons and don't deliver any NBC payloads (there was a nuclear torpedo back in the 60s, but it was for anti-submarine warfare, not a WMD either.

This entire thing is utterly ridiculous.

I read the original article after seeing the seemingly innocuous pic and kept waiting for what was actually wrong with it, looking forward to reading a real controversy and being outraged by it and hating these horrible human beings. But the punchline wasn't...

..."posing with guns in the exact fashion of Nazis"
..."while flashing gang signs"
..."prior to using those guns to murder people"

There was no punchline. The entire issue (outside of equally utterly ridiculous internal Australian affairs) is that these two held guns, in their hands, and were photographed doing so. WHAT THE ****.

I did the same thing. I then proceeded to condemn the entire population of Australia for the stupidity of such an article. Luckily some of the posters on here corrected me and said that all of the whackos have been stashed away in the Herals Sun and Swimming organization. Oh and apparently parliament too...

Australian Olympic swimmers spark outrage

http://www.news.com.au/news/australi...-1226387891149

I dont get it, can some of our Aussie forum goers explain this to me? In the article they mention that these are the same weapons used in specific violent attacks that have occurred in the past.

Is it really rational to link these men with those attacks solely becuase they thought it would be cool to have a picture holding the weapons?

Also I was curious what exactly is the problem having these pictures up on a social media site while representing Australia in the Olympics when the Olympics themselves have shooting competitions?

The guns issue was punishment but there was no crime.
