What Will Happen If Barack Obama Continues To Legalize llegal Immigration

An interesting read. While I don't agree with everything, it's worth looking into.

Quote:
Barack Obama seems completely obsessed with systematically legalizing illegal immigration. The United States borders a failed narco-state that is one of the most crime-ridden nations on the entire planet, but Barack Obama refuses to secure the border and the consequences for the American people have been absolutely catastrophic. Right now it is already costing us tens of billions of dollars a year to provide welfare for illegal immigrants and to educate their children in our public schools. Right now illegal immigrants are already working millions of jobs that should belong to American workers. Right now Mexican drug cartels are already active in more than 1,000 U.S. cities. But apparently that is not good enough for Barack Obama. He wants to roll out the red carpet and give the green light to tens of millions more illegal immigrants. Last year, Obama issued a list of 19 factors for government officials to use when deciding whether to use "prosecutorial discretion" in deportation cases. In essence, under that new set of rules criminals and "national security threats" were to be deported and virtually everyone else was to be allowed to stay. But now Barack Obama has taken things to a whole new level. Now, if you are under the age of 30, came to the United States under the age of 16 and have lived here for at least five years you will be able to apply for legal status and a work permit. With the election less than 6 months away it is obvious that Barack Obama is pandering for votes. But this kind of "banana republic politics" is only going to divide America even more deeply and is going to result in some very serious pain for this nation in the years ahead.

It would be interesting to see deportation rates under G.W Bush

They really need to decide what upsets them:
immigrants draining huge amounts of money in welfare payments, or immigrants making huge amounts of money by working instead of taking welfare payments.

False dichotomy.

As illegal immigration is made more and more legal, there will be less and less illegal immigration. Simple, really.

I was under the impression that illegal immigration started with the Pilgrim Fathers.

I don't think the author of that piece knows what "absolutely catastrophic" means.

Meanwhile, haven't deportation rates under Obama actually been higher than under Bush?

You'll have to explain what statute was violated before the pilgrims could be termed "illegal."

"Help! I am surrounded by brown people who talk funny!"

That's all what it is, really. My favorite take on this mindset is:

Bigots circa 1900 who railed against "subhuman hordes" of Irish, Italian and Jewish immigrants were afraid that future generations of Americans would not look like them, and would not like them much. They turned out to be right.

Sucks to be on a losing end of history.

Yep which makes some of this conservative out cry all the funnier. Bush clearly had far more important things to be thinking about, and this way down his 'to do list'

He actually, in his first term at least was really dealing with a catastrophic situation

Actually the image is so bad I cannot tell what it is trying to say. I think it is portraying Irish (Irish-Iberian? Makes no sense) and Negroes as some kind of pre-human savages, but I am not sure.

I glanced at your post and misread it as "But it's awesome being on the winning end of hotter chicks"

Which still works!

You are correct. Here's the page I got the image from...^ They expound on the meaning of the image:

"This illustration ran in Harper’s Weekly magazine. Notice how the Irish are depicted as more similar to “Negros” than to “Anglo Teutonic” individuals, and both the Irish and Africans are caricatured as ape-like. It could also be useful for a discussion of scientific racism."

This is what I was thinking.

If you make it legal, then illegal immigration, by definition does not (or cannot) exist, at least in this context.

I am continually surprised to find out how xenophobic people are here in the US. I say, if someone wants to come here, let them come. It makes me ill to see "E Pluribus Unum" regurgitated back as "In God We Trust".
