Alan Turing's 100th Birthday

Alan Turing would have been 100.

Do you think you could pass his test?

Yes the 23rd. Interesting article on the truth behind some myths about Turing on the BBC. According to this Turing drank cyanide and left an apple by his bedside as a grim joke.

I'll be here on Sunday http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visi...lleries/turing

Although I'll have a 4-year old with me, so will probably be a quick dash round before going to the more interactive stuff!

Google UK's animation for today is rather imaginative and play-worthy.

A visionary, a genius, gay and a marathon runner.

I'm glad I have something in common with this great man. I've run marathons.

For some reason, Google doesn't work for me today. It displays an image for Turing's birthday but nothing works.

Another BBC article proposes that his death may have been misadventure and that the coroner may have made unwarranted assumptions.

Cool!

European commissioner Kroes mentioned Turing, and his 100th birthday, in her keynote speech at yesterday's Digital Agenda Assembly.

Problem is, I don't see the search field. I have to use google.ca.

I have signed it but because we are in the digital-money age people are less likely to see his face on a banknote.

If you enjoyed Google's game, consider trying Lightbot and its sequel.

I've actually recommended it younger students starting to take an interest in programming as a good introduction to loops and functions.

It's a little late, but today a customer's asked me to solve the halting problem. Thanks to Alan, I'm not falling into that trap!
