Arrow Need roommates to share hotel costs at TAM!

Hi all, this is my first post, I think. I tried to do this months ago, but couldn't figure out how this newfangled contraption works, then forgot about it because I was busy finishing up college.

Anyway, I have very little moneys and need someone to share a hotel room. I may not be able to even reserve the room because that's how little money I have, but would like to stay all throughout TAM, preferably also the day before, so I can get some damn sleep before it starts.

BTW, I'm 30, very geeky, very energetic, very attractive, and promise not to sexually harass/intimidate any mens who might stay with me. I also have some very interesting stories of brainwashing and horror that tend to fascinate people, and like to swap stories with others.

I have a stupid but really well-written blog where I don't have time to write much, at:

mad science writer at blogspot dot com

where you can read more about me and my life, and sometimes, science.

If anyone can help me, I will be eternally grateful.

PS When you register for TAM, are you supposed to get anything in the mail? Because I registered on April 3. Just wondering.

Welcome to the forum, SpoonyQuine!

There are various other threads in this subforum regarding roommates at TAM. Did you check them out?

Regarding your question of whether you're supposed to get anything in the mail--no, you're not. You should have gotten email confirmation of your registration, and after that you just show up at the registration desk (with a photo ID, IIRC).

Thanks AdMan, that's what I thought. It's been so long I forgot, is all. As for the other threads, I finally noticed one! Maybe there will be some luck?

Kitty, thanks for linking, as I can't do that yet.

I can't be much help either because I already have a roommate. However I have heard that when you use the TAM code to reserve your room it says there are no rooms available but I think that is because the code has expired. A tammer on twitter says she got a similar rate from the online booking site Kayak.com.

Anyone who booked with Southpoint at the full rate should check to see if they would be better off with the Kayak rate.

Right, I hadn't gotten around to getting a roommate yet. If it's all right with you,

My name's Leonard, I'm nearly 20, from Sweden, something of a dandy, and a bit reserved but easy to deal with. Second TAM. I've got a 2-bed room reserved wednesday thru sunday.

Several people here can vouch for my relative sanity.

I am one of those who can vouch for TubbaBlubba's sanity. He is, in fact, almost entirely sane.

Relatively speaking.

In any case, I survived a car trip with him last year, so there's that.

Is it worth noting that you're not repeating?

Nothing? Nothing? Had he wanted to kill me and bury me out in the desert somewhere, he wouldn't even have had to stuff me in the trunk!

Nothing. Hmph.

I would not mind being roomates with TubbaBlubba again, at all!

The problem is that his decision to join TAM, this year, came too late. By the time he did, I already had another roomate lined up.

(Technicially, my original roomate backed out of attending, but I quickly got another from an offer who got there before Tubba.)

If he had wanted to kill me, he could have done it in my sleep.

(I am emphasizing the word "had", so it is clear that this is hypothetical stuff we are talking about. It's too easy to misread that and think he did try these things.)

Well, I am a 26 year old lingerie model looking for a roommate, but I see you've already got someone lined up, so nevermind and good luck.

Finally got logged in again here! TubbaBlubba, you sound possibly really awesome, and from Sweden, and you're the first one to respond, so... the roommateship goes to YOU!

We'll have so much to talk about!

I have room!

Hi, Spoony. I think I can help you out if you are still looking for room. I presently have one roommate and probably could accommodate at least one more. My room is reserved for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. I have had three roomies each of the past two years, and we got along just fine. I am not at my home computer, but it seems to me my total hotel bill is going to be about $345, so split three ways, that is $115 apiece, or less than $40 per person per night. Please reply to me ASAP, because it seems that I always pick up roomies at the last minute, and then the space is gone. Anyway, by the time you respond, I will be at my home computer and know the exact amount of the hotel costs.

As I said in another thread, I know Spoony and can vouch for her. She's a member of our local skeptic's group. Very nice young lady who is looking forward to TAM.

Thank you, Ginger! (She knows just how mostly sane I am! There was that time I almost vomited in front of her, but otherwise my record's pretty clean...)

SkyHar, seeing that I'll also want a room Wednesday, TubbaBlubba has won my heart...

Also, I am fascinated with people from far away.

Enjoy!

Sounds great, Spoony, but you don't know what you're missing! My cousin, female, about 15 years older than I, is driving up from Tucson, and we intend to spend every non-TAM X moment gossiping about our families. So far we have uncovered stories about the only Christmas tree bombed to pieces by the Japanese during WWII, as well as why a bouquet of cookies showed up at the funeral of an anorexic family member. If you see an older couple wandering through the halls and cackling to themselves about domestic escapades of relatives both living and deceased, that'll be us. Cheers! Skyhar

I need a roommate for Stirling. This is his 4th TAM, he is 21, non-smoker non-drinker and sleeps like a rock.

I got the room at the lowest rate possible.

Friday night $96 Saturday night $96 (that is with taxes) I have the room also reserved for Thursday night ($56) and Sunday night ($56) but Stirling won't need the room that night as he will be staying in my room.

I'm going to cancel the room for those nights unless someone wants the room those nights.

Please contact me on my email if interested. susangerbic@yahoo.com

Spoony, clear out your PM:s, your box is full. And we need to work out how to meet so you can get a room key, etc. I'll be in the hotel shortly after 1900 if all is according to plan, and it'd be good to do it as soon as possible, since I need to get ready and go to Remie's meetup, etc.
