This says much more about our health care system than about Muldur OR Walmart. There is no other industrial country where Muldur's life would depend on a retail store's labor practices.

And?

Still doesn't change the fact that he is spewing all this nonsense about Walmart pushing prices too low while at the same time it is Walmart's price cutting measures that allow him to afford the medicine he needs to live.

Oh, you forgot the one where they are slowly destroying the middle of this country, didn't you, Beerina?
So your thought is that if Wal-mart didn't buy from Chinese manufacturers that other American retailers wouldn't and American manufacturing wouldn't lose jobs to foreign competition?

I can certainly understand how one might not be a fan of Wal-mart if that was what one believes, but from my perspective it is a very naive assumption. The money that Wal-mart uses to pay for Chinese goods is available either through US exports of goods and services or by US borrowing from foreign sources. If Wal-mart didn't spend that money in China certainly some American retailer would.

The problem is that American manufacturing costs are not competitive in many areas and that is going to cause American manufacturing to shut down. If you want to help the workers you seem to care about then the key is to figure out why American manufacturing is becoming uncompetitive in the world market. Of course, the simple thing to do is look at a symptom of the problem like American retailers buying Chinese goods and blame the American retailers for doing what they must to stay competitive.

In a similar way people on this forum were bashing Apple for not making the Iphone in the US. Apple has a choice do what it needs to do to be competitive in the world market or do what makes ill-informed buy US zealots happy and go out of business.
