Post election unhinging
So we've seen Karl Rove & Donald Trump lose their **** over the election result but I kind of feel like I might be missing some unforgettable moments as I haven't had a chance to tune into the American media much over the last few days. So in the interests of my own personal schadenfreude what other examples of unhinging have people seen over the last few days?

While certainly not in the same league as the big guns mentioned here, there is 18 year old Kristen Neel who tweeted, and I quote:
"I'm moving to Australia, because their president is a Christian and actually supports what he says." A couple of issues here. 1. We don't have a president. 2. Our Prime Minister is Female. 3. She is an atheist. Apart from these things, she was close to the facts. For example, Australia exists. http://www.theage.com.au/technology/...#ixzz2Bf3KprDe Norm |

I've heard SNL's Victoria Jackson had a Twitter meltdown about the death of America and being ashamed of America's Christians for letting this happen. I still can't decide if she's a Poe or not.

I'll have to track it down again, but someone had posted a number of twitter posts regarding excitement with BO being re-elected because "now everyone will have free heath care!"

Does Mhaze's continued absence from this thread count as post election unhinging?

I found this article disturbing: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/poli...icle-1.1199402
Not surprising, but disturbing. Goes along with Jon Stewart's quip about Romney winning "most of the confederacy" I suppose. |

I found the "I'm not going to school because I'll never get a job because Obama was elected" funny.

I've seen a lot of it on my Facebook. Grasping at straws and whatnot.
My one co-worker had to delete her account. She said some pretty angry things and basically said the US is now terrible, and that she wouldn't want her (non-existent by the way) children to serve it. Many of her friends who are in the armed forces and their families took EXTREME offense to this. |

These people don't seem to realize that...
1) Obama's been president for almost 4 years. 2) The sky didn't fall, the world didn't end, and none of the doomsayers' predictions following the '08 election came true. 3) Obama won the popular vote by a few million and will handily win in the electoral college. The majority has spoken, isn't that how it's supposed to work? All this crying and hand wringing reminds me of the nonsense from some liberal Democrats following Bush's reelection in '04. You don't have to like it, but that's how our system works. The world didn't end after that, just as it won't end now (well unless this Mayan crap comes true ). If they must leave our great nation, I hope they don't let the door hit them in the posterior.

You know, I used to hate that virtually every presidential election someone (usually a journalist) would remark on the amazing peaceful transition that is made because of our democracy as if it were still something unique in the world (and all other countries undergo violent revolution with every change of leadership).
But compared to this doomsday stuff (including reports of the demise of the GOP), I guess it's preferable. |

Got this today:
