Overheard at the block party
Today was our annual end of summer block party.
Closed the street, bouncy house and an inflatable slip-n-slide filled with bubble stuff for the kids, lots of barbecues set up, sound system, the whole nine. While we were sitting down eating, a guest (in from New Yawk) told the kid he was sitting next to that he was supposed to be in WTC 1 on 9/11, but his appointment was for later in the day, he saw the smoke and people jumping from the buildings to escape, etc. What he also told the kid during this caught my ear. "They blew up the buildings because they were filled with asbestos, and the cost to remove it was too high..." I wasn't the only one who heard it, because my table mate (fireman, urban rescue qualified) caught my eye and shook his head with a pretty dark face. During clean up, I asked him if he heard what I heard, and he did. I know the asbestos CT has been around, but this was the first time I've encountered it in the wild. FYI. |

It's amazing how long debunked rumors still circulate as fact among people who do not want to know better.

It amazes me how many 9-11 Truthers were supposed to be in the WTC, but somehow managed to avoid it: David Long, Richard Andrew Grove and Indira Singh are just three examples.
If I were to encounter one of them, my temptation would be to give him or her a fish-eyed look and say, "Oh, so you were one of the ones warned not to come into the World Trade Center that day." |

What I'd love to know, what order did this happen in? Did the bush administration want a false flag attack, and they approached Silverstein and say
"Hey, you wanna put your income on hold for the next 8 years, save yourself asbestos removal cost on those few remaining floors, and help us cover up mass murder of our own citizens? Oh btw, we're also gonna take down 7 just for *****, and if we get caught chances are you're gonna get the death penalty along with us" Or did Larry see the remaining floors of asbestos such a cost that he approached the Bush Administration, and said "Hey guys, I got this great idea. Ya know those towers? Yeah, I can't be bothered forking out a small fraction of my profits to get rid of the asbestos on the few remaining floors, so how about we do an old fashion false flag, fake some hijackings, fly the airliners into them and blow the entire complex to the ground. While we're at it you guys can fire a missile into your military command center, oh and make sure you crash another into a random field somewhere, that is key, the whole event will be ruined if we don't crash that one random plane into that one random field. We'll probably get caught, but you guys can go after who ever you want in the mean time, savvy?" Either way sounds pretty ridiculous. Like my sig states, I'm still waiting

Had I been in a different state of mind, I'd have interjected some sanity into the exchange, but I was more interested in BBQ pork tenderloin and chicken at that moment.
The philospher in question is a visting family member from one of my neighbors, and I get the impression that he's a noted "character." |

Its not just "debunked", its retarded. Oh yea lets stage a massive ridiculously convoluted terrorist attack and kill thousands of people and destroy hundreds of millions of dollars worth of property and business' and invent a secret fulllproof method which to melt the steel and collapse the towers installed by super black ops ninjas no one notices (since they are ninjas) and no one will ever notice except a small group of nobodies, all because asbestos too expensive to remove! Oh and we'll also fly a plane over the Pentagon for no reason in front of a crowded highway and cross our fingers and hope no one notices, then detonate a bomb and plant all the remains of the plane, but do it badly on purpose so the small group of conspiracy theorists will know we did it, but no one else will believe them. Then we will cart all the WTC steel off to China so no one will have evidence of our thermite bombs, but we will take at least two pieces of that evidence and put it in a museum for anyone to see and also write a public report on the other complete with pictures, no one else will notice this is just to annoy the conspiracy theorists, everyone else in the world is just too dumb.
etc etc. |

Not having to remove the asbestos was just a side benefit. The main reason they destroyed the towers was to make the American people think they were being attacked so US aggression would appear to be defense to them.
http://www.911hardfacts.com/report_04.htm If the US government wants to invade a country to take control of its resources as it frequently does,... http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145531 ...it has to give the people a bogus reason as they would never go along with the true reason. |

My twin hypotheses being: 1) Most truthers cannot think - in that they cannot analyse a multifaceted situation (e.g. WTC collapses on 9/11) and come to reasoned conclusions. (Evidence in abundance in this sub-forum) AND 2) People who cannot think are more likely to become truthers - because they cannot analyse a multifaceted situation (e.g. WTC collapses on 9/11) and come to reasoned conclusions. So "I cannot understand it" leads them to "therefore CD" or "inside Job" or....any of the other bits of nonsense. So my conclusion is that the causality is: People who cannot think tend to become truthers because the events of 9/11 are too complicated for their limited thinking ability to comprehend. The hypothesis is IMO worth a thread of its own but would probably get relocated to a psychology section. I'm not interested in discussing it as an abstract topic of mental health. I'm only interested in the 9/11 setting and how inability to think seems IMO to be a dominant aspect of 911 trutherdom. Try this as a test of the hypotheses: Has anyone ever seen a truther put forward a comprehensive and coherent argument for CD at WTC?
