Heh. Psychiatry likes to label recreational drug use as abuse, and mental illness.
"Results and conclusions An appreciable proportion of cannabis users report short-lived adverse effects, including psychotic states following heavy consumption, and regular users are at risk of dependence. People with major mental illnesses such as schizophrenia are especially vulnerable in that cannabis generally provokes relapse and aggravates existing symptoms"

I have yet to see a study that comes to such a conclusion, that wasn't aimed at that conclusion. Bad science.

Me, I strongly suspect the guy was mentally ill, and his mind broke. Being mentally ill myself, and having also experienced a psychotic break, I'd say I have some clue about that. It's not so good when someone is having trouble in their head, and latch onto religion. Can't say that it's always going to be a bad combination, but I've seen a few people I knew go that way.
