Is there a word for fear of psychiatry or psychiatrists?

Other than "Scientology," that is.

That's what I would have expected, but a google search indicates that it is not widely used.

That's because lexicographers are too scared of their psychiatrists to print it.

Or maybe "white coat disease"?

'barca-lounger phobia?

and because the simpler psychophobia (fear of people dressed in their dead mother's skin carrying big knives) was already taken!

Well the OP trumped me as Scientology was the 1st thing that came to mind. So my next bet would be "Normalcy". Only problem is that I can't think just what in the hell psychological normalcy might consist of.

It depends on the orientation of the psychiatrist. For example, psychoanalphobia.

For psychatrists who primarily prescibe psychotropic drugs, it's psychopharmophobia.

Well there's "anti-psychiatry", and those guys will deny like hell they're afraid of becoming normal by spouting conspiracy theories about Big Pharma, etc, while usually ingesting other sorts of drugs.

I think it would depend on the reasoning.

Is it real fear, or is it anxiety instead?

Is it triggered by the presence of a psychiatrist (say, being in the same elevator as a psychiatrist, no actual interaction required)?

Or is it avoidance of being diagnosed and ultimately medicated or institutionalized?

Thanks for the link. I liked "papaphobia" and "Pteromerhanophobia" -a great title for a book.
