I know of this person, we have a mutual acquaintance, and I had heard about this about a year ago. I was wondering when this would pop up again, but had no idea a clothing line was in the works.......Sasquatch Wildwear, hummm, people make big bucks on QVC and HSN for stuff like this. Melba could become a brand just like the Kardashians.

Because some are heavily (emotionally) invested in the real animal claim. For some, it's all about winning the argument, or about not losing. (example: mulder) The facts will be cherry picked, and special pleading along with confirmation bias. You cannot convince some of these people with facts, or otherwise. They want to believe so badly, they will bypass critical thinking, and even point the finger at those who do use it, claiming "theyre not open to the facts" or that they "aren't looking at the evidence". Many of them feel that the current "evidence" for bigfoot is substantial and should be enough to further fund and protect these alleged creatures.
It is absolutely a fanatical situation. Bigfoot MUST exist at all costs!! Otherwise, the fantasy is gone. The above describes the suckers. The pros are in it for the cash. They do not believe. |

Is there a psychological term for that personality trait?
You see it in a lot of top (and not so top) 'footers... the unwillingness to concede any point. I think it keeps the Bigfoot machine turning. The media puts out a lot of pro-Bigfoot content. A curious newbie is probably more likely to get their information from BFRO than from JREF. Some of those folks will be unwilling to accept that they've been duped, and there's your next generation of 'footers. |

I'm so tempted to replace 'footer' with 'republican' all through your post but I know that's against the rules!

Narcissistic Personality Disorder would seem to fit a person that argues or believes beyond all logic and factual evidence ? Just a thought.. it is not about the Foot it is all about Them so they cannot be wrong ? It would destroy or alter their system of "values" and self esteem. Or maybe those folks are just stubborn ignorant people ? What do I know ?
Just a thought.. It is like being a Cleveland Browns Fan ?... but not quite... |

Destination resort.
I think I'd prefer to be defrauded in a nicer place, a bit closer to home. Vegas, maybe. |

That has a certain panache and click to it. "Finding Yeti".. hmm..
Episode Two: Renee: "Are we there Yeti ?" ( The camera scans to her left boot in a green haze of fake night goggle lights and then up to Bobo) who retorts... Bobo: " No, not yet. There is a Yak herder just over this hill .. wait.. did you hear that ?" ( A brief green camera scan of his concerned and ponderous facial expression) (shake the camera a few times for fun) Renee: " Hear what .. umm... " ( Green light angle hits snow and her eyes which appear red and wide). Commercial |

This is the funniest Bigfoot documentary ever. Check out the narrator, he sounds like the guy from Leigh Hart's Mysterious Planet.
The Government Cover-Up of Bigfoot Documentary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4OXTv9cFJY Appearance by Dr. Meldrum There's no money in Bigfoot though. |

Wow, I don't know how many leaps of logic ocurred in this documentry but it's a bunch. Why does the government want to cover up all evidence of bigfoot anyway? You would think that sequestration would cancel the funding at the Dept. of Bigfoot Denial and some disgruntled employee would reveal everything.

This coincides nicely with a thread over at Best Bigfoot Friends Forever concerning an infantryman that witnessed the killing of a footie-foo-foo and details the subsequent cover-up by the Army and BLM, etc. No real evidence though.

A great article about finding 'Awe' without resorting to needing a Bigfoot to provide it.

"Awe has become associated with the supernatural. When did that happen?"
The awe-factor in nature was always assumed by uneducated people to be the product of the supernatural. |

The surfeit of BS that sloshes its way through bigfootery is never ending. It will only get worse as time goes on. More hoops will have to be jumped through in order to maintain bleevership.

CZ is a layperson pastime pursuit that is comprised of 99% reading. People like it because it compels mental imagery of objects scenes and scenarios. A kind of directed lucid dream. People like that sort of thing. It happens when they read novels. A world blossoms in the mind and it was created by (reading) words. We can do this at the same time that we are awed by the natural world in pure reality. A field biologist can spend a day documenting and studying local fauna and then retire to their cot in the evening to read Green's book on Bigfoot. He has not cheated himself on getting awe from the real natural world... he gets that every day. But the "Bigfoot Awe" he gets (by imagining that they exist) is in addition to all of that. The naturalist who believes in Bigfoot has Awe Awe. A simple naturalist only has Awe. Besides, you can't dictate to people what they should and should not do to get their Awe. Well, you can't expect them to always do what you tell them. |

The issue of awe vs. understanding is the topic of Richard Dawkins' too-obscure and much underrated book, Unweaving the Rainbow. From the introduction:
