Nope, I think they are just bipedal dogs best I can tell from what few reports there are, mostly in Michigan and Wisconsin. Whenever I hear about them I can't help but think of that picture of dogs playing poker.

Yeah, that rumor that RL started about Melba having dogman DNA mixed in with the bigfoot DNA in the study was true. Sally really did say that they had found it but that they were going to concentrate on bigfoot DNA only...............

Well you know, it's a process moving from proponent to skeptic, that was one of many stairsteps on the way up.

You know you have Dogman DNA cause it will bite you on the ass after you tell people you have it. Just like Melba and the BF DNA.

Does the advent of Dogman mean Bigfoot is finally leaving the country? People are tired of Uncle Hairy and want someone/thing new?

Oh yes, dogmen are the new thing now, not to be confused with werewolves who only change their form once a month. Dogmen are wolfey from the cradle to the grave, assuming they aren't paranormal that is.....

Drew, I am sure you know that the Gable film was announced as a hoax by the guy who made it. If you want to see the only purported "evidence", google "beast of 7 chutes" to see a very blurry photo.

As for the nomenclature......... some baboons (specifically, the chacma baboon and the olive baboon), have a very dog-like face, and applying the logic of "dog-man", would be called "dog-monkey".

Frankly, if you guys have somehow missed a population of hirsute bipedal apes, there is no reason to suppose that you haven't also been lax enough to miss a population of hirsute bipedal apes with snouts.

And some unicorns too........

Mike

OT, or maybe back on topic . . .

I watched a bit of "The Incredible Hulk" on TV this weekend with my son. It was one of those deals where they tell you something about the movie at each commercial break. At one point, I hear the dude say that the special effects team aimed to create a 9' tall Hulk. While the Hulk is certainly more buff than any bigfoot would have a reason to be, this image conveys pretty much the scale of a man standing next to a 9' monster. (Tim Roth at 5'7" is a bit below average height, but he would have towered over Roger Patterson.)

So, there are things this big running around our woods, and we can't photograph them?

Here's a 7' Shaq next to a 6'4" Pat Riley for a bit more size perspective of a small bigfoot and a tall human.

I certainly mean to try if I ever run across a dogman litter that I can raise myself. I'm not sure how intelligent they are supposed to be but I think if they attend school they can manage a touch screen on an iPad with paws pretty easily.

Jodie, you're missing out on an opportunity. You could do a Dogman store online and sell whistles and stuff like that, even a training manual. Also write books about tracking and hunting with Dogman.

It's your chance to become the first Dogman expert. You can start a sightings database and take people out on sighting expeditions. Who knows, you may even eventually get your own reality TV show. Bobo would beg to be on it, because BF would be outgunned and fading into the rear-view mirror. Conan, here you come!!

I would be too embarrassed. I'm still getting over the embarrassment of even considering bigfoot was real at one time.

So did I, well .... when I was becoming an adult I was becoming skeptical as no evidence came about, and once I was convinced the PGF was a hoax, that sealed it.

Good points, Jodie. Well, I'm 40 years old and had hardly even heard of BF until a few years ago. My brother was talking about it and he mentioned the PGF and I watched that and thought, that's totally crazy. But then I discovered BFRO and since I camp a lot, I enjoyed reading all the hairy tales then scaring myslef out there alone. Gave me a good excuse to drink whiskey (j/k).

I finally came to my senses and decided it was a hoax. But it was fun for awhile, though I never saw or heard anything squatchy.

One of the admins/mods at BFF swears that a very close acquaintance shared excellent quality images of BF with him. Images that would put this issue to rest. Unfortunately, he was asked not to share.

That was HRP. Interestingly, he was perfectly willing to share correspondence with forum staff which had been given in complete confidence , but staked his reputation on not sharing the most earth shattering BF video of all time. I heard from 2 different sources that it was a hoax............but we'll never know, hey!

No need to be. You came into it looking for the truth, you spent time going over the evidence and learning things about the subject, the people involved the way things work, as a mod I am sure you got a chance to talk with the so called experts, something not many get to do.

I think you should be satisfied and confident about your decision, I know it was the right one.

Since all bigfooters truly have are anecdotes...let's get anecdotal.

This nice custodian where I use to work was digging out a pond and discovered pterodactyl bones. People find bones of animals that lived millions of years ago with some regularity. With all of the digging, erosion exposing the earth, and construction projects - why haven't we dug up bigfoot bones of an animal that supposedly exists to this day?

I spend a lot of time outdoors. You name it, if it is in Michigan I've stumbled into it. Lost humans in the woods? Helped them get home. A dead person that committed suicide in the woods? It ruined my month. A rare massive dead sturgeon about 7 feet in length washed up on the beach? Found it. Dead bear? Check. Seen rare wolves, yep. Why does no one find a dead Bigfoot body ever? They are seen all over the country, including where I live - certainly some would be dying laying around to be found, drowning - floating down stream...

I once talked to a guy who was studying animal populations with FLIR technology. They could survey vast areas and often through foliage by picking up the heat of the animal. The technology was so good they could tell a chipmunk from a squirrel. Nothing resembling bigfoot ever popped up. They also use this technology to scan for small forest fires at times. Government agencies and universities have been scanning vast tracks on natural areas and wilderness...and no bigfeet. Why?

The human brain is a tricky thing. It is arguably the most complex thing man knows of ironically enough. It tries to make sense out of randomness.

Two times in my life while jogging deep in the woods I thought I saw a telephone poll - the kind with the perpendicular cable bars on top - knowing there are no telephone polls through the woods, I stopped jogging and looked again. Not there. Should I report phantom ghost telephone polls? Or did my mind play a trick on me for a split second.

I had been arguing with my father-in-law over bigfoot. He is an avid outdoorsman, he has never seen one or any evidence of one, but believes in them, as he also believes in ghosts, demons, and loch ness style monsters in Michigan waters...he has a real wide open mind. My wife and were walking down a wooded road talking of bigfoot, when she thought she caught a glimpse of bigfoot crossing the road for a split second. The area was very densely wooded and the bend in the road made it impossible to see much ahead. So I sprinted forward hoping to see what it was that she saw -- figuring that it had to be trapped on that side of the road as there is a lake just 40 yards through the woods. To make a long story short. It was a very tall man, dressed in dark clothes that had been enjoying the state park on the opposite side of the road and was returning to his car.

Is it not possible that people can misidentify things easily and unintentionally?

Extraordinary claims require solid evidence.

Why is there only flimsy evidence at best and anecdotes?

It's the fairies. Bigfootsies live in the same part of the woods as the woods-fairies, and all that fairy dust interferes with the optics on cameras. Plus it makes the bones melt away.

Bigfoot spotted up my way!

Of course, the state Fish & Wildlife people are saying it was probably just an owl -- but they would say that anyway, wouldn't they?
