The worst conflicts are the ones least talked about. Journalists prefer to report from places they can get room service. So a minor border dispute between Israel and the Palestinians gets more attention than say, the Second Congo War which killed five million people.

The inverse is the assumption that conflicts that are most reported are the worst. More people die from Islamic terrorism in Karrachi than anywhere else. Parts of Mexico were more dangerous than Baghdad, and Mexico gets millions of tourists a year. The Maoist insurgency in rural India is worse than the Taliban's insurgency in Afghanistan, but gets little mention in the media. Marxist terrorists killed 30,000 people in Turkey during that last two decades, but got little reportage.

There is an upside to this though. It's good that nobody knows anything about a lot of terrorists. Terrorism feeds on media exposure. The best thing you could do to fight terrorists is to ignore them and let them get crushed as a bunch of forgotten nobodies.

There is some truth to what Virus just said, one of the most whitewashed conflicts in recent memory was the rebellions in Sudan and Ethiopia. They talked a lot about the starving people, but less about why they were starving. They got pushed into the drought regions and much aid sent to them was confiscated by the govt so as not to feed the army he was fighting against.

The highlighted part is exactly what I was talking about. You're not pointing out a contradiction between two things they think. You're pointing out a disagreement between one thing they think and one thing you merely ascribe to them.

That really is stretching a point. "Muhammed Ali" is a very common name, and the boxer was not named after the viceroy of Egypt, simply named the same as him, and many others.

Are there any such AGW deniers? It's possible to believe that NASA generally produces reliable data sets, but still object to the interpretation methodology of some researchers who happen to work for NASA.

I suppose it's possible that there exist some serious AGW skeptics who simultaneously claim that no part of NASA can be trusted, but still trust some part of NASA if it serves their argument.

But I doubt you've found any.

there are many different kind of crazies.
i had one that told me that all climate models are BS.
but then a few hours later linked to a study he claims debunked AGW which actually used a climate model that is also used by the IPCC AR's

crazy knows no limit.
