As an aside, my dad was Cief Engineer on a seismic survey ship in the late 70s. It was working around the Falklands. They are supposedly the ones that found the oil.

I argued that's exactly the kind of cretinous proposal that people like Kirchner hopes to be offered.

A kind of resigned shrugging of the shoulders; a simpering desire to find some "common ground", and maybe a "degree of mutual understanding". Some negotiation and discussion and "forward-thinking agenda".

If there's a squabble, why surely both sides must have a point. Why not just split the difference and make everyone happy?

I cannot see that it will ever be politically possible either for the UK to cede sovereignty of the Falkland Islands, nor for the Argentinians to stop demanding them 'back'.
