Okay.....I will tell you this right now, these sermons and the aggressive level of opposition to things like this are telling. They tell me that the people who run these religions, know deep down in their hearts it is all BULL FECES.

If Christianity was as they say the one and only true path, pokemon or anything else would not scare them. It would be so TRUE, there would be so much material real world evidence that no stupid CCG could take them down.

Look at other religions and cults, why does Scientology oppose psychiatry? Because they can prove that it is a LOAD OF CRAP. They want people spending money in expensive auditing and Dianetics books on real tested therapy. They will go out of their way to scare their followers into not going to them. They make claims of ABUSES and TORTURE by psychiatrists.

Let's face it this is just a business that needs cash paying customers. They do not want Pokemon, Harry Potter or the Super Mario Bros taking that money away from them, so their impotent old men who run it can live high on the hog. So they say it is the work of SATAN.

The Smallpox vaccine

I remember when dungeons and dragons was the devil snd kids were being molested by satanic cults. Wait... Turns out kids were getting abused bt priests, teachers and coaches. These orgs are bs and they need an enemy for unite the flock or distract them.

I was terrified of listening to metal for a while as a kid because of this. When I was 9 or 10 at church camp they told us Metallica did this, and I would actually start to experience depression and the beginning of a panic attack when one of their videos would come on,.... it's so silly now thinking back on it.

The youth minister also told us Ozzy threw live puppies into his crowd to be torn apart, and he would have everyone attending his concert spit into a bucket as they entered the auditorium, which he would later drink from on stage.

1) Organized religion, especially in the Arbahamic branch of things has long suffered from control through fear issues, some might argue to the point of corrupting the original intent of the faith's message.

2) Scientology, while I agree that much of psychiatry can be refuted, the group itself is a proven abusive cult and nothing more so bad, bad example and if your intent to push that crap here others have tried and gotten their derrieres handed to them.

3) Pikachu is lame on its own merits, imo.

They just care about finding a warm body to incubate in. HPV vax will not turn your daughter into a slut. cervical cancer is not caused by sexual activity.

wow, if this is the source of the claim that the vatican said cars were satanic, then the claim is abject nonsense. This is basically a document saying that car drivers should be careful for pedestrians and other road users (with a weird second part saying not to pick up prostitutes).

I live in an extremely conservative Xtian community and am surrounded by people who are afraid to celebrate halloween, who won't let their kids play skylanders with my kids, read Harry Potter, or listen to any music that isn't Christian. I am friends with some of these moms and their fear seems real enough. Their worry is obviously with regard to protecting their kids from dark or satanic values or influences. I don't see why these same concerns wouldn't be reflected at the level of the church leaders.

ExMinister, leader's concerns are about keeping their flock loyal and sending them money. Money spent on skylanders and harry potter is not money spent on them.

It also reeks of desperation from the losing side. As science takes over more and more, and pop culture becomes more and more prevalent it gets harder for them to keep cash paying followers. Look at fundamentalist Islam, one of their tenets is the banning of all western ideas and culture, music, tv etc.

Because we import our pop culture everywhere, there are girls that want to dress up as American Teens, what they think is one, it scared the traditionalists off as it threatens their power base.

Penn Jillette said it I mentioned it many times before. It is getting harder and harder to cloister your children from the outside world and ideas. Expect to see if not already anti-internet sermons, tracts and pamphlets coming from these people.

These orgs are bs and they need an enemy for unite the flock or distract them. 1982 movie starring Tom Hanks, "Mazes and Monsters". HPV vax will not turn your daughter into a slut. cervical cancer is not caused by sexual activity.

This is basically a document saying that car drivers should be careful for pedestrians and other road users (with a weird second part saying not to pick up prostitutes).

We see it with the JW's the FLDS and such. They want complete and total loyality to their faith and more of their money.

ExMinister RSL Acolyte Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 2,749	I live in an extremely conservative Xtian community and am surrounded by people who are afraid to celebrate halloween, who won't let their kids play skylanders with my kids, read Harry Potter, or listen to any music that isn't Christian. I am friends with some of these moms and their fear seems real enough. Their worry is obviously with regard to protecting their kids from dark or satanic values or influences. I don't see why these same concerns wouldn't be reflected at the level of the church leaders.

Money spent on skylanders and harry potter is not money spent on them. It also reeks of desperation from the losing side. As science takes over more and more, and pop culture becomes more and more prevalent it gets harder for them to keep cash paying followers. Look at fundamentalist Islam, one of their tenets is the banning of all western ideas and culture, music, tv etc. Because we import our pop culture everywhere, there are girls that want to dress up as American Teens, what they think is one, it scared the traditionalists off as it threatens their power base. Penn Jillette said it I mentioned it many times before. It is getting harder and harder to cloister your children from the outside world and ideas. Expect to see if not already anti-internet sermons, tracts and pamphlets coming from these people.
