Perhaps if Pat Robertson prays for the hurricane to change direction we'll be spared.

Didn't Art Bell do that with his audience once and then claimed it worked?

Because we all know that never before has an unprayed-for hurricane changed course

The first 3 or 4 frames have marvelous detail, then it goes all soft and fuzzy. Awesome pics, tho.

I would suggest writing a letter to the Sun and complaining.

I've send several regarding its tendency to shine into my room when I'm hungover and in bed. I've yet to get a response, however.

Nothing pisses off a hurricane like spelling and grammatical errors:

Be prepared to fork over billions to rich oceanside property owners if it hits. You know, the ones who build beach front mansions in hurricane-prone areas where they could never get private hurricane insurance. But no need since good 'ol Uncle Sam will rebuild for them.

Same goes for those who build on flood plains w/ those wonderful river views.

Hurricane Isabel, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is currently located 490 miles SSE of Virginia Beach with winds of 110 mph making it a Cat 2. Isabel is moving to the NNW at 9 mph and is expected to make landfall Thursday at 1 pm in North Carolina. The eye of the hurricane is forecast to reach Virginia in the Greensville County area around 10 PM on Thursday. The wind field associated with Isabel has hurricane winds extending out 115 miles from the center and tropical storm winds out 315 miles from the center. Tropical Storm force winds are forecast to reach SE Virginia by 5 AM Thursday with hurricane winds reaching SE Virginia by 4 PM. Hurricane winds are presently forecast by the National Hurricane Center to be impacting Virginia for roughly 9 hours with Hampton Roads, Richmond and potentially Culpeper and Fredericksburg Districts the recipient of these hurricane winds.

If the present track is correct then once entering the state, Isabel will continue on a northwest track exiting the state into West Virginia through Rockingham County. NHC is calling for 6 - 10' of rain and higher totals possible in some areas. Storm surge on the coast is projected to be between 7 - 11 feet and 4 - 7 feet in the Southern Chesapeake Bay basin and adjacent tributaries.

A mandatory evacuation of low lying areas in the Hampton Roads area was ordered this morning. VDOT stands by to implement a Phased evacuation if so ordered by the Governor.

Even though I've always had a dislike for Virginia because 1) when I tell people I'm from West Virginia they ask if I live near Richmond, and 2) Virginia Tech is there, I must say that it does make for a great Hurricane buffer zone for us hicks!!

Keep up the good work!!!
