More dangerous breast cancer nonsense
I found this extremely worrying spam e-mail in my inbox this morning. I have had to post the full text so that we can see it all in context, sorry about the length of it. I will carry out my own analysis of this nonsense in my next post but I just thought I would post it unedited first (appalling grammar and spelling left intact):

But he's giving away ALL (!!!) of the profits, ALL of the PROFITS of sales on Dec. 12, 2007
If his book makes the top five on Amazon he'll give an additional $500. I would have hoped if his book made the Amazon top five he'd be a little more generous with his quack-earned funds. If MY as of yet unwritten book makes the Amazon top five I'll give the JREF $1000 at least. |

![]() I would be interested to learn of the relationship between the author and the organisation. My analysis will be delayed until I have determined this. ETA: Aha! Here we are. I knew I could smell something! The best-selling author testimonial
----
“This is a groundbreaking research paper that reads more like a page-turning novel. Full of absorbing case studies, Van Overbruggen presents some of the most provocative and mind-bending cancer research around.” - Ellen Tanner Marsh, New York Times best-selling author ---- Based on Ms. Marsh's genre of writing (ripped-bodice romance novels-- yes, I am judging a book by its cover), I question her ability to identify not only what constitutes mind-bending research but what constitutes a page-turning novel. I realize that this post is somewhat of an ad hominem attack, but it's a ad hominem attack in response to an appeal to an (irrelevant) authority. |
