Send a telegram to the dead
So if you buy into the idea that there is an afterlife and that your loved one is in the great beyond, but you also don't think you can talk to them and have them hear and see you. (Which would kinda be the best of both worlds, because I have done some things I don't think Poppy should be watching)... then how about a telegram to the dead?
yes, for just five dollars a word, you can have a terminally ill person memorize your message as well as the name and info of the dead person you wish to contact. And assuming they can find them amongst the other thirty billion dead souls, they'll do their best to deliver it. No seriously... this service exists. http://www.afterlifetelegrams.com/AFTERLIFE/ |

It's not a parody. The site has been up for some time (a couple years at least). It has been written about in the news. The dude who started it has been interviewed. They said that they do have some trouble finding enough terminally ill volenteers, but apparently they got some press coverage a while back and that helped
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2002/11/prweb49469.htm http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...orld.htmlAfter If it had been a hoax I think the punchline would have been out a while ago. In any case, by all accounts it's real... or atleast an attempt at it |

I read this and thought: "Whats next? An email from the dead?"
So, I decided to google it. Of course. People would be getting emails from the dead: http://www.gettingit.com/article/449 |

Oh. My. FSM. Are you trying to make me lose my faith in humanity? People who take stuff like that seriously should get their heads dunked into a bucket of icy water and be treated to a thorough washing, until they beg for mercy, chanting "I repent! I repent! I swear to never be willfully stupid again!"
By the way, I have personally received emails dated thirty years in the future. Also some from January 1st, 1970. Do I win a prize? |

I heard this guy on a radio interview a while back, and forgot the name of the company before I could look it up. It's not a parody, but it didn't seem too well thought out (and he didn't seem to think it was either). At the time, he was saying "so far, our only volunteer was a family friend, but he recovered, so we have none at the moment". I believe they were refunding money to people who had paid at that point.
Also, he mentioned that any money he made was being donated to the American Diabetes Association or some other similar charity. He had that on the site at one point, but said they contacted him and asked that he remove it. |

"Hi. Yes your son gave me a message to give to you, just before I died. I can't believe here I am, a dead person, talking to another dead person, actually able to pass on the message. It was, okay, let's see, something about... a... hang on... no sorry it's a bit fuzzy... Did it start with an B? I'm getting something about a car, some form of travel... did you know a Bob... a Bill? Rob? Simon? Patricia? You did? You used to watch Trisha? That might be it..."

From rjh01, that 1 + 1 can = 3. Yes, but 1 + 1, can only = 2. Note the coma.
But 1 + 1 "can" (think tin can) full of 2 things can = 3. Mystery solved. |

Dear [deceased’s name]
I am thanking you for your gloriousness in hearing this message by way of AFTERLIFETELEGRAMS which it is am sure most surprising to yourself. As you can see I am the first son and heir of the most rightfull director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). As it is most often with these unfortunalities my father was killed in an auto accident which is having the cause of the law enforcement agencies to look most suspiciously. As you can gather it is when powerful and well financed individuals most shockingly meet their ends that those who have made their oppositions known in the past begin to show outwardly what they might have gained themselves from these supposed ‘accidents’. Which is why I am at the present writing in desperation to you. For you see my father had accumulated a large personal wealth which he was to setting aside in his later years for health and the benefit of his children. However at the present while the legal are involved these riches can not be given properly to those my father had made his intention. And moreso if it can be comprehended, those most possibly behind the sudden cutting off of my fathers life are at the present disputing the will and rightful apportionment my father had made of his fortune. An associate of mine, the Honorable Mr. Weng Chiang with the Li Hsang Chen Bank Ltd in Hong Kong as informed to me of his idea on how these funds rightfully to myself can be freed up, and for this endeavour we excitedly request your participation. Being said as you are one of the departed it is considered most excellent your position to assist us in righting this injustice, and also making yourself no small compensation for your efforts. Please have your nearest living next of kin transmit to my associate the living ones full names and address so that the banker can commence his job. An identification of bank account is also required to approve that only those authorized by your departedness have applied to us. As you can imagine we are at the most fearfull of unauthorized undertakers to our plan and want in the only to assure it’s security. At the furthering contact the transfer can commence. Please hurry as to the future of my safety while those who brought to harm my father is not in the assurance! |
