Time Travel Theory for sale on eBay

And, at $10,000,000, it's a bargain!

Better hurry, though...there's a time limit to bid on it (no joke):

I notice that he takes Mastercard. I only have a five-figure limit on my Mastercard. I wonder just who has an eight-figure limit?

On the other hand, it seems a perfect set-up for a commercial. "Visiting Helen of Troy to see what all the fuss was about? Priceless."

Then those barbarians on the CitiBank commercial would be *real*, and therefore much cooler, I'd think!

No payments due for 3 months if you use you ebay mastercard!

I wonder if we could entice Mr Francis to discuss his ideas here... he'd fit right in:

He's a mason (no not THAT kind, he's an actual mason):
Quote:
I am a Christian Man of God. 47 years old. I am a student of God, Science, and Philosophy, and a Lifetime Builder. A Master Mason. I own Cornerstone Masonry , Cornerstone General Contracting...

And, the inspiration came to him in a vision that left him psychologically impaired for three years:
Quote:
Then it came to me in a Revelation. There was a Way. There is a Way. & This is the Way. I Believe it to be Inspired. Its Weight and Magnitude gave me P.T.S.D. for 3 years. I am much better now, Thank God.
I'll bet he'd be a huge help with billnreno's pyramid project. I also wonder what impact his time-travel revelations have had on his religious outlook.

The past is over and the future hasn't happened yet. If time travel were possible then the universe would be in a perpetual state of chaos because people would be going bck in time and disrupting and changing things.

The seller doesn't know How To Use Capitalization.

If you don't have to pay for three months, you could buy it, use it, and never have to pay.

Why? How could you know or what test could you use to determine that the past from now and back is the same as the past form 5 minuets ago and back five minutes from now? Since the only reference you would have would be that past which we might postulate, that due to a time traveler acting during those five minutes from now, has now changed. So how can we demonstrate that the past is in fact over and does not change if our only reference is that changing past? Technically the future is happening right now with the events of the past and the present combining to bring a definitive result to the future probabilities. The past was the future at some point just as the future will become the past at some other point. Feynman-Wheeler absorber theory postulates that what we perceive as a forward time emission and absorption of a particle is in fact comprised of a half amplitude forward time (retarded) wave and an 180 degrees out of phase reverse time (advanced) wave that combine in phase to result in the full amplitude wave of the particle going from the emitter to the absorber. One might make the assertion that the present (which is all we truly interact with) is simply comprised of equal portions of both the past and the future.

If spacetime is one thing, then travel in space is also travel in time- ie it's 400 miles from Glasgow to London, which is 1-6 hours by plane or train and near three weeks on a pogo stick.
One supposes time travel likewise involves travel in space. The only way you can travel back in time ten minutes, must involve going from where you are now to where you were then, via every spacetime point in between. Anything else involves matter creation, as there must be two of you at any given point in time.

But wait a mo!

Where I was ten minutes ago in relation to what? Where I was then is either in space, or inside the planet by now.

I'm staying put. At least for the foreseeable future.

Look at the headlines and tell me that this is not already happening.

I was thinking, "what in idiot," because the eBay payment structure with which I'm familiar requires a percentage of the initial asking price as a "listing fee," and $10million is a big chunk of change. But looking at it, it's a "classified ad," which probably means a flat listing fee, and also means there's no bidding on the item -- you call the guy, pump him for information, learn enough to build the device without him, go back in time to watch the "SIDS" event, and file for a patent. On second thought, what an idiot...

Ah ha ... you have stumbled upon what I found to be a very difficult obstacle in "time travel" theory ---> the instantaneous transportation of matter. If you were expected to somehow go back 10 minutes in time (say, through some sort of portal) and end up back at your desk (or wherever you were then) ... and let's for the moment ignore the two yous that would then be present ... you would also need to transport yourself through the space you moved in those 10 minutes. (The Earth and solar system are moving, you know ... quite rapidly.) You cannot move this distance as you normally would through forward time, as you would run into matter from every which direction you were traveling with when going forward. It would be sort of like avoiding all the traffic on a multi-lane highway if you were to somehow start going in the opposite direction. Going with the traffic is just fine --- against it ... death! So you would have to do it via jumping this distance and ending up at your destination instantaneously.

Good for you!!

Hey ... after you win, you can go back in time and prevent yourself from winning ... er, spending your money.

I assume this is not Theory as it is used in science but, rather, theory as it is used in "I am a nutjob/ripoff artist" situations.
