More A&E Stupidity

At my school, we run a high-tech, interactive haunted house every year (http://www.gravesendinn.org/, I do the control systems) and I got an email from a friend of mine saying A&E was looking for "haunted houses" for a new TV show. So, I sent the person an email explaining our attraction, etc. Just got an email back saying:

Quote:
The attraction looks raucous, but [we are] looking for actual
haunted houses, with actual spooks (verified of [sic] not).
Ugh... So I sent the poor girl this message:

Quote:
They think "actual" haunted houses exist? Wow... As an an educator who confronts magical thinking every single day, I have to say that they could do a much better service to the world by not promulgating such BS. Why not show what absolute crap most "haunted" houses are, and present some real science as to why people might think things are haunted? How about taking people to a "haunted" house (prepared by a crew), showing them getting scared, and then explaining to everyone how they were deceived? That would be interesting, informative, and educational. We sure don't need another idiotic "Paranormal State" that equivocates on the absolute non-existence of "paranormal" phenomenon for the purposes of "entertainment", promoting magical thinking and furthering mass stupidity in the culture.

That was an awesome reply you sent. Unfortunately, to people like Ryan Buell, the Paranormal State champion, "real science" proves the paranormal phenomenon beyond a doubt so you're just waisting your breath.

Can I get that email addy? Gee I wonder if they have ever done a show on that horrible demon called monthly mortgage payments?
That damn poltergeist is gonna haunt me out of my own house no doubt.
Oh yeah! I have the mailman deliver proof of that demon once a month.

That made me chuckle thinking of charging a ghost for rent money or some form of monetary compensation. I mean, the person who pays the bills owns the house. Not the supposed ghost. A spook's gotta earn it's keep, you know, like everyone else.

That ***** sells everywhere in the world, on TV, bookstores, street corners, and anywhere that you can get money from people. It's a problem with the entire human race, not even remotely limited to Americans.
