Zachary Moore from Evolution 101 Podcast

This may be spam. But hopefully since I am a dedicated skeptic and active on this forum anyways it can be forgiven.

I have an interview with Dr.Zach from the Evolution 101 podcast on my own skeptical podcast at:

That is a great show. Just as a critique of the production there were a few pops & cracks in the audio but nothing too annoying. I dont know what software you use for recording but you should be able to zoom into the timeline and erase those pretty easily without messing with the audio. The production over all was very good. Very entertaining as well. I love The Bastard Fairies, that song is hilarious. Have you seen the video? I assume you have. She is smokin! Hot enough to melt my monitor Great interview with Dr Zach as well. I enjoy listening to both of his shows as well, so I am bound to enjoy yours,I'll listen to some more this week.
Even though I dont agree with the Atheistic view, without you getting into too much of a rant, why in your opinion does it seem like being an Atheist is almost a requirement to be an evolutionist? Is it because the creationists are so defiantly ignoring the evidence or are they shoving their religon around? Just wondering and not trying to start another debate. If you havent already you should use that for a show if you like or just respond here.

I see now that you have addressed my question already, but the older posts are in mp4 and my old Sansa wont play those. As much as I would like to listen to them I wont be able to. I cant at work either because of the content. Is there anyway of getting you to put them in an mp3? I dont expect you to do it for just one listener, but it doesnt hurt to ask right?

Thanks for the link.

I personally am a fan of the podcast Evolution 101. And I think anyone who wants to know why scientists accept evolution should go there to listen to the overwhelming evidence.

I think there are plenty of people who do accept evolution yet still believe in a personal god, although you won't find too many of them on this forum in particular.

As an example, Dr. Miller of Brown University is very well known for his arguments against Creationist/ ID, yet he is said to be a devout Roman Catholic. Francis Collins had a lot to do with the Human Genome Project which has given us a huge amount of evidence for evolution, yet he is an evangelical Christian.

As to why those who accept evolution of this particular forum tend to be Atheists, I think most people on this forum want to subject religious claims to strict scientific investigation as we would with any other claim made about the universe. The aforementioned scientists, however, probably accept Stephen J Gould's notion of "non overlapping magisteria" which basically states that this cannot be done.

Personal God and Evolution

It is a fact that people accept evolution and believe in a personal god.

Dr. Zach makes this point during his interview.

It is my position that evolution makes believing in God that much more strained.

I think that logic dictates that if evolution happened, which it did, and God exists, which I seriously doubt, that it would have to be a certain kind of God.

For one, with evolution, we definitely have a God who did not cause Noah's flood, nor did He create the Earth in the way described in the first 2 chapters of Genesis.

This causes belief in a personal God for me to be ever more strained in those who hold both ideas.

However, it is a simple empirical fact that scientist exist who hold both strong religious and scientific convictions.

The sound quality is always a work in progress.

I am planning on having a variety of guests on this subject, including theistic evolutionists.

I just don't temper my own opinions as I do this stuff. Maybe I should.

For me my atheism is a conclusion brought on by study of the bible (and the Q'ran) and comparing the claims therein to what I understand to be the scientific evidence.

Admittedly with reading only the bible and the Q'ran I am ignoring countless other religions that might hit the nail on the head, and be depriving myself of salvation.

I think a deist God is possible, anything else is as unlikely as the invisble pink unicorn.

But I have guests planned who are active and devout christians who are great evolutionary scientists.

I will ask them to share their theology.

I think I pretty much agree with what you have written, but it is also always interesting to me to listen to other points of view such as the evolutionary scientists you mention. I would like to see how they answer your questions. I will try to tune in.

You guys should all listen to the Jesse Hyde interview. He wrote an article about Evolution Education policy in Texas and how it affects the whole country.

Its scary stuff. That episode is also only about 20 minutes long.

Jesse Hyde is also a Mormon and accepts evolution and he talks about this with me a little in is interview.

It is true that the Catholic Church accepts evolution.

I do not think that one needs to be an atheist to be an evolutionist. But I do think a lot of atheists are evolutionists.

So I openly discuss atheism.

Also, in regards to Dr. Zach and atheism, he is an atheist activist. He runs the North Texas Church of Freethought, got his start with help from freethought media which I think is ran by the Infidel Guy.

Dr. Zach is a huge part of the so called "new atheist" movement. He just happens to be a brilliant evolutionists.

I make no bones about my atheism or my desire to promote it. I will try to have more theists on the show.

Again, Jesse Hyde came out making Mormons look good on my interview with him, I give respect where it is deserved.
