I bet they have them automatically deleted.

Does it mean randi.org is becoming too popular?

It actually means that more people are trying to connect than are allowed by mySQL's max_connections parameter. This parameter is there to keep an astounding number of connections from flooding the server, essentially resulting in a denial of service.

They could up the max_connections parameter, but that won't do any good if the hardware can't handle it. So assuming max_connections is set to its optimum value, they'd need to upgrade the memory or even the processor on the server to fix it.

In other words, it's the JREF site experiencing growing pains.

I know there is a lesson to be learned here somewhere, but I don't know what it is.

'Growing pains' are something you grow out of. If there is an endpoint to the current forum problems, we haven't seen them yet.

The 'most ever users online' thing at the bottom of the main page, still says we've not beaten the 6th June high.

And the number doesn't seem that high anyhow. Is this just buggy software rather than really too many users?
