Question Just curious; Who recognizes my avatar?

It's science-related.

But am I the only person who would recognize what it is?

People got my previous one, which was a Foucault shadowgram.

I don't. Looks like a three-way between a telescope, a bridge, and a trebuchet.

Looks like a howitzer with an elaborate but primitive aiming system.

It's either the worlds largest rectal thermometer or William Parsons telescope which was the largest in the world in the 19th century.

What do I win?

Lord Rosse, Ireland, biggest telescope of the day, speculum mirror ... instantly recognisable!

ETA: I read only the OP (on my word, FSM), not the other posts, so I 'got it' without any help ...

Why did you think you'd be the only person to recognise it?

The history of astronomy is not studied by many people. Far more people have see the whirlpool nebula drawing than ever saw the instrument used to create it.
