Are Truthers Merely Jealous?

Truthers (and CTers in general) seem to always go after people that are either rich in wealth or those who are esteemed for their political intelligence. Is it mere jealousy? Thoughts?

I'm not sure Jealosy enters into it much. I think they see themselves as dangerous revolutionaries stickin' it to da man.

They have to target the big end of town, because there's not much point in making accusations of international conspiracy against old Mr Cohen at the local fruit shop (unless he starts looking at them funny and short changes them. Then old Abe better look out!).

I can see that... people that have no power and want some making accusations about people who have power, with the pipe dream that they'll be able to fill the power vacuum. However, my experience is that truthists would rather go after people of any standing who openly disagree with them.

Because it's the same plot in almost every movie. Little nobody goes after big bad rich goliath. What movie doesn't use this same scenario? The truthers want to live out their fantasy of being the unsung hero that no one believes until it's too late and then they save the world and everyone who teased them in HS begs them for forgiveness and their existence and lack of motivation is finally justified after all. The end.

Lets face it. Conspiracy theories are fun. I have to admit that I was intrigued with a few. And I was initially intrigued by theories brought up surrounding 9/11 due to a bias I had toward more fantastic explanations. After reviewing the available evidence for both sides, I realized that the reality is 9/11 occurred due more to human error (on the part of the allegedly sterling US intelligence apparatus, among other things) than it did any kind of clandestine precision. Many conspiracy theorists I've encountered think almost exclusively in the meta. It provides the illusion of some grand order and therefore some grand explanation. In reality, things are chaotic and tragedies, such as 9/11, simply cannot be fully explained, or accepted. I'm only speculating, of course, but I suspect there is a comfort in believing that one is fighting the good fight and putting an end to some eternal clandestine cabal bent on, well ... eventually forming the NWO. It's a benign "enemy" that one gets to chase with cherry picked quotes and theories. Armchair activism is obviously, for some, a very fulfilling endeavor.

I don't think it's jealousy, precisely. I think it's more a yearning for significance, fueled by a major misconception. They once heard somewhere that people laughed at Galileo, and so have concluded that everyone who gets laughed at eventually turns into Galileo. I think there's something to the jealousy angle. As one woman pointed out in a special on the conspiracy theorists, they've rewritten the story of 9-11 so that they're the real heroes. When you consider the obvious narcissism of many of those in the "movement" it adds up.

Excuse me was the OP claiming that the truthers were jealous of actual experts and evidence? I believe it claimed truthers were jealous of wealth or political success.
