This is to Jeff, Paul, Mercutio, Yahweh

, kittynh and all the other Teachers and Educators in JREF land. Today I had what was for all intents and puposes my final in the Instructor course I am taking. I had to give a 45 min. lecture on an EMS related subject. Just 48 hours before I presented at a Regional Conference (my first presentation). I tweaked it a little and turned it into a lecture.

Let's just say that it went beyond all my expectations. Looks like I will shortly be embarking down a new career path.

If it wasn't for the inspiration, encouragement and examples of teaching and educating that happens on this board I would not have taken the steps to realize this dream.

To all of the JREF'ers that take the time to write thoughtful posts that help others to understand your personal area of expertise and those of you that teach professionally know that you have made a positive impact on a life. I can only hope rthat someday I will also inspire the way all of you have done.

I would also like to publically thank all the teachers here (I've already sent a few via PM).

Currently, I am a junior in highschool, I've taken a few pre-ACTs and they look promising ([gloating]unless there is a reason why a composite score of 28-31 isnt promising[/gloating]), I've got a lot charisma, unfortunately I dont really have a future planned out for me yet, I'm a bit all over the road map as far as future careers are concerned.

Here's a list of careers I've pondered going into since I began my highschool edumacation:
Computer programmer (I have a knack for the stuff, I build and debug programs at lightspeed compared to the others in my programming classes)

Webpage designer (A won 2nd place one year, then 1rst place the next year in a State webpage design competition... I'm not the best or most creative designer, but I can build scripts that could dazzle and amaze, in fact last year I built my own message board that functioned pretty closely to the Randi.org boards... the admin and moderater functions were limited thought, and there were no custom avatars or ability to attach images... I never could figure out how to attach images)

Stock Investor/Day Trader/Swing Trader (I've learned all the lingo, I know what a bear and bull market is, I know formulas that predict stock prices with more than 90% accuracy... unfortunately I'm too cheap and order prices are too low...)

Cat breeder (you may have noticed I seem to like kitties... Is there anything wrong with being able to name dozens of breeds of cats off the top of your head...)

Actor (this has always been my dream job, I like acting, I will debut in acting in an upcoming independent film that my friends have written and directed... and lets face it, I'm pretty enough to be on TV

)

That is an abbreviated list, it goes on for a few more pages...

I've decided my most realistic career choice will be "teacher guy" (yes, I am aware "actor guy" is a little out there to be considered too realistic). Although my "students" and fictional job made up a small chunk of the fantasy life I crafted (I'm still a naughty Yahweh for doing it...), I've developed quite an attachment to the career. I have been give a few times to teach a class, for instance in my Forensics class, I wrote a few oratory presentations designed to teach the class a new idea (Note: Forensics is a competive speech writing and interpretive acting class, most speeches tend to be very humorous, I choose to take a more "dignified" approach to presenting... I say dignified because some of the speeches I've seen are absolutely immature and stupid). I've loved every chance I've been given to teach.

About 2 years ago, I aided in Summer class. The class was designed to teach youngin's the basics in webpage design using Microsoft Frontpage. All the youngin's were 7th and 8th graders, I almost feel like the dozen or so crappily designed "Dragonball Z Fansites" (with illegally used copyright images included) made the whole experience hardly worth it.

I've considered exploring Education as a future career. And I have Brown, Kitty, Mercutio, especially Boo

, and plenty of others to thank, you all have helped inspire me. Thank you all so much!

Really? You know formulas that can do that? Well I know a guy that can pray hurricanes away from Virginia Beach. You two ought to get together some time.

Just a suggestion: go with one of your other career options. Your "formulas" are the homeopathy of the investment world.

Wow, Boo, that's so cool!

I'm a teacher, but I haven't been teaching anymore because, in my country, I wouldn't be able to earn the minimum I need, which isn't much, but it includes lots of books and the occasional travel.

But I teach, you know. The little I know, whatever, I have a great pleasure of teaching it to others. It's part of my "repertoire" and I can't do it differently now.

And your story, to me, makes me think how valuable this forum and the relationships that have been developed are, and why it's worth to keep it up. If you ever see me grinding my teeth in order to defend this forum, you'll know why - it's because it can affect people's lives positively.

My bad, I use the word "formulas" to mean the same thing as the word "signals", I didnt intend to make it sound like I can predict stock prices. I'll rephrase, I've memorized a few good signals to indicate a stock may be favorable.

I use TC2000, it has a feature which allows you to export 1000s of stocks into a single file (files tend to be very large, 100,000s of records).

One common method that has about 75% success rate (for stocks US$10-20) is the old use of moving day averages. At least everyday, you can find about dozen stocks. If the 3-day MA > 9-day MA > 21-day MA > 200-day MA with good volume, its usually a good sign.

One of my forumlas has a very high success rate (at least 90%), but its rare to find more than 1 stocks per month that fit within the criteria. (Just beg if you want me to give it to you.

)

Dont let anyone tell you "3 days increasing price, 3 days increasing volume" is a good stock selection method, its safer to flip a coin.

One common trend I've seen is when a stock closes near its high, its bound to go up a little more.

I used to track CSCO, it used to have a fairly predictable roll between US$15 and US$13, but in the last 6 months its been swooping upward.

One of the biggest factors that affects the price of most of the stocks I track is the news. Good news means good profits, bad news means bad profits (its a very difficult concept to understand).

Yeah BOO!!!!! Hey, you really seem to care about people, and that is what makes someone a good teacher! Good for you!

If you are interested I learned my CPR and first aid from Archer Mayor, who writes mystery stories (check you library or bookstore). They are really good, and he told us he writes them so he can be an EMT and teach and keep his kids in private school! The few times I have used what he taught me has indeed I feel at least once saved a life! You are teaching some important stuff - sharing how to save a life! Now that's teaching!

I know that seems harsh, but sometimes I feel society is constantly making our job harder, while colleagues are more concerned with their paycheck than their kids.
