What was interesting to me was that the reporter is one of the more irreverent at attempting this topic I've seen. He seemed to take a number of chances to get his report...and is one of the first to suggest that his handlers were getting mad at him...it is a facinating, scary look at the 1984 World of Kim Jung Il...

The very last words of the series summed it up best: "The land that time forgot."

Exactly, it's funny that alot of anti-Americans want to scare people about the US by trying to portray it as a "1984" type of society, when we've got an exact replica of such a society in NK. They got it down to a tee.
Where are these people when the subject of NK arises? They are awfully silent about true dictatorships. |

So true...fortunately, allowing warrentless domestic spying and looking the other way when it comes to torture will help prevent us from sliding into that nightmare world.

You've just seen the real thing, and you're scared that the US will slide into that?
Please.

I don't know. Thanks to omnipresent cameras, scanning software (reads license plates), face recognition software, and all phone and internet traffic routed through unapproved government computers, one guy in a room could conceivably sit there and monitor the complete travels and activities of any person they choose, all in an automated fashion and completely recorded.
No administration would ever do this to the competition, would they? I mean, there's no oversight by judges, because it's too damned important to risk it. So we have to trust they're not slipping in a little Right? |

Isn't omnipresent cameras more of a UK thing than a US thing?
But yes, North Korea is one spooky place. Nearly completely shut off from the rest of the world, in desperate poverty, with the government in complete control (as far as I understand it). |

A camera in Spain = Orwellian state in the US?
OK, so by this logic: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...ost_world.html So I guess it can happen here too, with Bigfoot? |
