syncronisation manager
How does one get rid of this. I recently updated Windows (using 'tools' etc. A new item cropped up ....i.e. syncronisation manager. It is so annoying and worse than a virus. it puts an icon bottom right of the screen and when I click on it a windows shows which says...an error has occurred with offline, BBC online. I went into 'internet options' then 'advance' and then disabled it. It now pops up to say it's disabled. The most annoying factor is when I have, say, done a lengthy email and I can't send it because the sync man is busy syncronising. there doesn't seem to be anyway to get rid of the thing. Anyone else get this? I am Win ME by the way.

Synchronization Manager! I do not know ME at all, however, this is a windows program common to ME, 2000 and later systems. You somehow have offline files trying to synchronize. Because you unchecked the box in your IE advanced settings, it pops up that annoying icon. YOu have to remove any offline files in the scheduler, and then tell it to not synchronize.
In IE, go to Tools, Synchronize- look through all the settings and go from there. If you can't find the Synchronize in IE Tools, try looking in Accessories.... |

I have been in the scheduler an there is an option to 'skip' the ones you don't want syncronising. Unfortunately nothing happens when you click on 'skip' the other options are 'setup' and 'close' I have also taken off the click on the four webs listed so the system shouldn't be dealing with them.....but it still does.
The icon comes up whether the 'advance' setting is disabled. It came up as an error before I disabled. Now it comes up as a warning that the BBC online is disabled.

In my synchronization manager, on the first page it says "there are no items to be synchronized". I can click on the Setup tab, which brings me to another page with different settings. I think you need to remove the web sites listed from the synchronization first page, leaving it with no offline files to read as either "disabled" or whatever. I have never seen an icon, or been prompted on any of the 5 computers in my lab by this program in any fashion.

thanks, I have got rid at last. I did as you said and went into 'setup' then clicked on 'schedule' It then gave me a choice to delete which I hadn't found before. I deleted them and hopefully that's got rid of 'em. It's been driving me crazy as it isn't a service I setup anyway
thanks a million
