A few questions regarding Masuda stuff

Since I work 3 graveyards a week at the local prison, I've taken to magic to kill the immense amounts of free time I have at work. I've read all the bibles (13 Steps, Practical Mental Magic, Royal Road and etc.) and I've done enough practicing I feel comfortable actually performing my routines on people. I've tried things out on some of the friendlier prisoners/my co-workers and gotten good responses. I've been looking at some stuff online and I've been drawn to Masuda gimmicks, WOW in particular. They all seem very impressive, albeit expensive, and I think I'd like to try a few of them.

I have a few questions regarding them, however. Firstly, are they all reusable? Can I just replace any cards that have been marked and keep doing the effect or are the cards themselves also gimmicked? What sort of responses do you get from them? Are people constantly asking to examine everything or are they just dumbfounded by the effects?

Also, on an unrelated note, what type of thumb writer do you guys like best? I've heard that the thumbtip is easiest to use, but can be a little hard to conceal. How are the boon type?

Here's some info on WOW:

I've seen many of Masuda gimmicks and tricks and they're generally well made.

All that I've seen are reusable. Can't say for what I haven't seen. One of the first Masuda tricks I saw was the Two Card Mystery. It fooled me. I still don't know how it works. It's really not worth $30 to me to buy it and find out since I already have several thousand more card tricks than I'll ever actually use.

If you're talking about WOW, you just need to replace the cards that have been marked.

It's not always one or the other. If they're dumbfounded by the effects and the trick uses something they've never seen before, they're much more likely to want to examine it. Especially if it appears to be something that has no other use in the world than making a magic trick happen.

It's how you present the effect. If your reasoning and presentation are good enough they shouldn't wnat to examine anything.

My exact philosophy about sex.

I can get away with quite a few things just due to chance. It just so happens that I have tiny hands (Think 13 year old girl) so I can get away with fanning only half a deck (conveniently filled with duplicates) and blame it on my tiny hands.

Also, I think I'm going to shamelessly steal some guy on magic cafe's presentation and put a business card in the wow sleeve.

I went ahead and got a boon swami, by the way. I think I made a mistake in getting a pencil lead version, though, as it's very faint on cards. I was just afraid the grease pencil would look too out of place as no one actually carries a grease pencil around. Also, is there anything better I can use to stick it to my thumb? The blue adhesive isn't the stickiest stuff in the world.

Just a thought, but it might be worth checking out a Super Sharpie. Somewhat pricey and larger in use than the other forms, but at least you can boon in a readable, everyday ink kinda way with it.

I hit the streets today. The people really liked WOW and I did a few simple mentalist/card tricks for them which were pretty well received. I kept a Brett Favre card in the WOW sleeve and played it off as a card protector. That seemed to work ok. There are still some rough spots, but without performing I'll never get any better.

I was using a bottom card key for a reveal and accidentally chose the wrong card (wires must have gotten crossed somehow in my brain) and instead of panicking I kept going, peeling off cards and made another wrong choice, only intentionally this time. I then pulled out my Favre card and said "Number four will never let me down, the next card I turn over will be your card!" and I flipped the right one.

It was sort of lame, but at least it made people think a mistake was part of my act.
