What is Obama hiding about his time at Columbia?
What is Obama hiding about his time at Columbia?
Obama has been asked to speak at his alma mater, but so far he is a no-show. Perhaps speaking there would draw too much attention from the press and looking into his past. He will not release his transcripts or tell who his friends were at the time. I think he does not want something to be revealed? A clue... What is Obama hiding about his time in Columbia? Obama's alma mater wants a visit http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0108/8209.html |

Obama was not qualified to get into Columbia. The only reason he got in was because he was Black.

I don't think Obama's ready to be president, but this the sort of story which makes me reconsider my choice. Not only did an "unqualified" applicant get in, but he graduated and has become one of the all-time success stories of affirmative action. Tells me, despite his lack of experience, he's the kind of guy who rises to the occasion. This makes him a bad presidential candidate how? |

It scares you that a black man may become president, doesn't it, MaGZ?

He was at Columbia? I thought he was with Virgin Records. I think I still have some of his early stuff on vinyl.

Yeah. If there's anything that could get me to switch my vote from McCain to Obama, it would be to **** with people who are going to vote against him just because he's black.

I can2t believe all these stupid smears about Obama. First he was a radical muslim. Now he is a radical Jesus believer and today he is apart of the NWO? You know Im joking right? Man, oh man, this one is really close to insanely paranoid.
I haven't been back to CMU since I graduated. Guess why? No reason to go back. I've been invited to speak there, too, but the right time and arrangement hasn't happened yet. So, why don't we see a thread like that about jj? Oh, wait, jj is a fat old WHITE guy. Hmm, could it be sa.... No, don't think so. |

For future reference some may wish to adjust their neural connections to reflect the difference in spelling the university and the country.
![]() Although pronounced the same, the university is spelled Columbia and the country is spelled Colombia. |

Nothing. He wrote a book about his time there (and other youthful experiences).

I'm sure that McCain's people are hard at work looking into his past no matter what Obama wants.

And yet his grades were good enough to get into Harvard Law. And everybody and his mother knows that Obama was friendly with at least two people who turned out to be very unsavory while he was in college.

Hey!!! Watch it.....
![]() For the record Pittsburgh is a pretty nice place and happens to be my home. So the funny thing to me about all the Obama rumors is the mindset behind the rumors themselves. The fact that Obama is a great orator makes him a target, some people fear him and what he can do with such communication skills. The better he can motivate and invigorate the left the more he will be hated by the right. It's a shame because, regardless of his ability or willingness to be a uniter (or not unite), his most valuable asset in that task would become a liability due to the limited worldview of the people who are opposed to him. It's impossible to be a uniter on either side, we are destined to be a odds because there is so much mistrust and bitterness. Maybe it has always been this way and we just don't know it? Either way, threads like these started with the mindset above make me sad for the state of America today. |

So, is there supposed to be some specific secret surprise implied in the OP or is it just a generic paranoid sculpting-the-mashed-potatoes "This means something!" kind of thing?

I don't know enough about Pittsburgh to have an informed opinion about the state of the city - I'm merely recalling the opinions on the campus last time I was at CMU (nearly a decade ago, though).
Also, I enjoy answering rhetorical questions.
